Another week of Indiana High School Basketball is in the books. That means it is time to empty out the notebook and update some player evaluations from the guys I saw this week.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049169" first="Markus" last="Burton"] (Penn H.S. 2023): Burton is one of the best players in the state of Indiana that nobody is talking about this season. The 5’11" explosive point guard can make any play that you want off of the dribble. He is averaging around 27 points per game for 8-1 Penn. Excellent ball handler, great vision, and is a pesky on-ball defender.

Ahmere Carson (Anderson H.S. 2023): Physical 6’2" guard that drives it hard and is a very good finisher around the basket. Carson shoots over 60% from the field because he gets all the way to the rim and has the athleticism and strength to finish through contact. Will have a college ready body from day one, especially with another year to develop.

[player_tooltip player_id="958408" first="Jamison" last="Dunham"] (Pendleton Heights H.S. 2022): Dunham is small, but he is extremely skilled and can absolutely shoot the lights out. He put up 28 points on Monday night against a big, athletic Anderson team showing his size doesn’t hold him back from efficiently scoring the basketball. Averaging 19.1 points per game on 52/47/84 shooting splits despite being the focus of every scouting report.

[player_tooltip player_id="769712" first="Cole" last="Hatkevich"] (South Bend St. Joseph H.S. 2022): This small lead guard did his best to keep the Indians in it against Penn on Thursday night. Hatkevich is very quick with the ball and possess a nice pull-up jumper that he makes at a good rate. Good finisher with either hand at the end of his drives. Overall good playmaker with a high basketball IQ. Nice DIII prospect.

Ja’Quan Ingram (Anderson H.S. 2023): 6’3" super athletic wing that can really drive it right. He is explosive on his way to the rim, has a smooth pull-up jump shot, and shows the ability to create his own shot off of the bounce. Ingram is a good rebounder from the guard spot and is active in the passing lanes defensively. Scored a team-high 18 points in Monday’s win over Pendleton Heights in the Madison County Tournament.

Johnathan MacAbee (Zionsville H.S. 2022): MacAbee stepped up in a big way Friday night for Zionsville. Already missing two starters before the game, and then losing [player_tooltip player_id="868255" first="Logan" last="Imes"] midway through the third quarter, the Eagles needed help offensively. The 6’2" senior guard stepped up nailing four three-pointers on his way to 14 points to help secure an overtime win over Brebeuf Jesuit. Very good shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id="1210385" first="Marial" last="Puou"] (Brebeuf Jesuit 2022): The Huntington commit fought hard on the boards against 6’9" [player_tooltip player_id="868244" first="Nick" last="Richart"] on Friday night against Zionsville. Puou is 6’7" with long arms and nice vertical athleticism around the basket. He can rebound everything in his area and will only get better as he continues to get stronger. Showed some flashes of offensive skill too stepping out to hit a couple of three-pointers. Plays very hard.
