Before the All-Tournament region teams are selected, I’ve also decided to put together three All-Holiday Tournament Teams from all of the games from around the state. Today, it’s the First Team.
FIRST TEAM
Luke Northweather Luke Northweather 6'9" | PF Blair Oaks | 2022 State MO (Blair Oaks): The “Luke of Wardsville” was named the Most Valuable Player of the Joe Machens Great 8 after leading the Falcons to the championship. The 6’10” forward averaged 27 points and more than 10 rebounds a game as he dominated the action in the paint. He also displayed his versatility by knocking down 3-pointers, handling the ball when needed and delivering pinpoint passes to open teammates. He scored 26 points in the championship game against Tulsa Union.
Rob Martin Rob Martin 5'9" | PG CBC | 2022 State MO (CBC): L’il Rob earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the loaded King Cotton Holiday Classic in Pine Bluff, AR. He averaged 21 points, four rebounds and six assists in leading the Cadets to a pair of victories. After the Cadets’ first-round victory, the 5’9 2022 point guard picked up a Division I offer from Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Bennett Stirtz Bennett Stirtz 6'4" | CG Liberty | 2022 State MO (Liberty): The 6’4 2022 point guard was the Most Valuable Player of the William Jewell Classic, Holley Division after leading the Bluejays to the championship. He averaged 17 points and eight rebounds in leading Liberty to three impressive victories. He had two double-doubles while also dropping dimes and making his teammates better with his unselfish play.
Zach Howell Zach Howell 6'4" | SG Springfield Catholic | 2022 State MO (Springfield Catholic): The 6’5 2022 guard enjoyed a big week in leading the Irish to the championship game of the Blue & Gold Tournament Blue Division. He averaged 26 points a game while putting on an outstanding 3-point shooting display. The highlight performance came in the semifinals when he scored 33 points in a 49-48 victory over No. 1 seed and undefeated Nixa.
Kyan Evans Kyan Evans 6'2" | PG Staley | 2023 State MO (Staley): The 6’1″ 2023 point guard was the Most Valuable Player of the Patterson Division after leading the Falcons to the championship of the William Jewell Classic. He averaged 14 points and six assists a game as the controlled the pace of play and led his team’s dominating run to the tourney championship. He had one typical performance of 19 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals in the Falcons victory over St. Michael the Archangel in the semifinals.
Trasean White (Confluence Prep): The 6’1″ 2022 point guard was one of the top individual performers of the holiday season with his play at the Centralia Holiday Tournament in Southern Illinois. In four games, he averaged 28 points, four rebounds, six assists and five steals a game in leading the Titans to a 3-1 record and fifth place finish. He topped the 30-point mark three times during the tournament. He has been on fire throughout the season as he leads the St. Louis metro area in scoring at 32 points a game.
