As the post Christmas holiday shootouts commenced Monday. I decided to do something a little different. Instead of planting myself in gym for a whole day. I made like John Harbaugh and went for two (bad joke I know) I began the day at Detroit Cass Tech at the PSL Holiday Classic. Before wrapping things up down 8 Mile Rd in Ferndale at the Motor City Roundball Classic. Here are some Monday Motor City standouts from that marathon of a day.

[player_tooltip player_id="983496" first="Kyle" last="Germany"] 6-2 2022 Detroit Western Super explosive point guard prospect had a big day for the Cowboys. Simply glides and bounds around the court at what appears to be a different speed than his opponents. Got things going with a pick six steal that he finished with an emphatic dunk. I was impressed with his off hand usage. Is a right handed player. But seemingly most of his drives went to the left. Has a tight handle that should allow him to play point at the next level. While he wasn’t making it rain from deep. I didn’t see anything glaring mechanically to make one think he couldn’t be an efficient outside shooter. If he isn’t already. The season is young. But Germany might be the most athletically gifted backcourt prospect I have seen all year. The recent transfer can really get up and go.

[player_tooltip player_id="863946" first="Calvin" last="Marshall"] 6-6 Detroit Western Marshall came into Monday’s game with one purpose. Powerfully assert himself offensively. Particularly with the dunk. Easy to do with his thick but hyper athletic frame. However the flow of the game didn’t allow for this early. But when it did. He unleashed some serious punishment to the rim. And I mean literally. After his first dunk maintenance had to be performed on the basket support. While he waited for the post to open up. Showed off a solid all around game. Has a nice easy release from three. Also saw the court well and found open teammates. Like his running mate Germany. Marshall is a big time athlete who still appears to be getting his feet wet with a new program. Once that happens the Edison transfer could be in line for a huge senior season.

Jaden Savoury 6-5 2025 Detroit Renaissance As a player who is just beginning his high school career. Savoury had the breakout performance of the day. Has an explosive athleticism that belies his frame. Also has a quick second jump that he used to follow his own shot. Knows his role in the offense and doesn’t try to do to much. Which you love to see from a freshman. It was telling that the Phoenix seemingly wanted the ball in his hands late. Sealed the victory with a strong take in the post and at the free throw line. Won the game MVP finishing with 17 points. Definitely a prospect who should be on state wide radars for the emerging 2025 class.

[player_tooltip player_id="863938" first="Juwan" last="Maxey"] 6-1 2022 Detroit Renaissance Similar to crosstown rival [player_tooltip player_id="983496" first="Kyle" last="Germany"]. Maxey is a bouncy point guard prospect who can score. The scoring part was more prominent today as 2025 prospect Lance Stone ran the point for Renaissance. I have always been impressed with his change of direction ability. Can stop on dime rise up quickly for a jump shot. Fiery competitor and that got the best of him late as the game tightened up. But was right there in crunch time when needed. With his mix of athleticism and competitiveness I think he has the potential to be a defensive stopper at the next level. The offense is already largely there. Finished with 15 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="985671" first="Noah" last="Adamczyk"] 6-0 2023 Bloomfield Hills Did everything you want from a point guard as he almost brought the Black Hawks back against Renaissance. Had a huge second half. Found the balance in the fourth quarter between attacking the basket and and pulling up for threes in transition. This kept defenders off balance as the Phoenix pressed exclusively. This ability to switch things up accounted for his standout play of the day. A deep three on the break that tied the game late. Has a unusual ability to hang on his jump shot. This allows him to get his shot off against taller defenders. Finished with a game high 24 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="986246" first="DJ" last="Lee"] 6-4 2023 Bloomfield Hills (pictured at top of article) While Adamczyk was doing work out on the perimeter. Davis was doing his part down low as an undersized power forward. Got around the size issue with a series of euro steps and clever finishes around the rim. Also was active on the offensive glass and showed a knack for drawing fouls. Showed excellent ball handling. This will be needed as his future at the next level will level will be out on the perimeter. Has the game to be a intriging power two guard if he keeps developing his outside shot. Finished with 18 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="986244" first="Tyler" last="Jamison"] 6-4 2023 Port Huron Northern Team was severely outmanned in its matchup against Ferndale. But Jamison kept coming all game in the lopsided affair. Playing out of position at the point he did admirable work against heavy pressure. Has good court vision and put some serious heat on a few cross court skip passes. Playing with a pretty heavy tape job on his wrist. Might explain why the perimeter shot did not appear to be there. What was there was the ability to powerfully explode to the rim. On two separate occasions seemingly surprised his defender by getting a lob and a tip respectively. Finished with a game high 24 points.
