I began the week on Tuesday attending the Pike vs. Perry Meridian game, watched Fort Wayne Wayne vs. New Haven online Wednesday, went to Liberty Christian vs. Blackford Thursday, saw Hamilton Southeastern vs. Fishers Friday, and then watched three games in Session One of the Champions of Character Classic at Grace College on Saturday.
Darrion Brooks Darrion Brooks 6'5" | SF New Haven | 2023 State IN (New Haven H.S. 2023): Brooks continues to get better and better. He is such a good scorer from the mid-range with a consistent jump shot and is hard to keep from getting to the paint as well. 6’5″ wing with good strength and athleticism. Finished with 22 points in New Haven’s win on Wednesday night.
Trey Dillard Trey Dillard 6'6" | PF Fort Wayne Wayne | 2025 State IN (Fort Wayne Wayne H.S. 2025): Had the opportunity to see this 6’5″ freshman twice this week. Very physical for his age. He makes strong post moves inside, is an excellent rebounder on both ends, and showed a solid shooting touch out to three-point range. Dillard is definitely one to follow out of the Fort Wayne area as one of the top freshman in the state.
A.J. Dixon A.J. Dixon 6'5" | SF Merrillville | 2022 State IN (Merrillville H.S. 2022): College programs looking for a versatile two-way player need to get on the 6’5″ Dixon. He can play just about any position and is capable of guarding them all as well. Great length and physical enough to score inside. Dixon also has the ball skills to be a playmaker from the perimeter. Good vision as a passer as well.
Sam Jacobs Sam Jacobs 6'4" | SF Hamilton Southeastern | 2022 State IN (Hamilton Southeastern H.S. 2022): Athletic, physical wing that can play the 3 or the 4 at the small college level. Jacobs was excellent in HSE’s two overtime battle with rival Fishers on Friday. He scored it around the basket, can drive from the perimeter, and rebounded at a high level through traffic. His toughness and athleticism will translate right away at the next level.
Zack Jeffers Zack Jeffers 6'1" | PG Liberty Christian | 2022 State IN (Liberty Christian H.S. 2022): Jeffers fought through a slow start to have a huge fourth quarter leading Liberty Christian to a come from behind victory against Blackford on Thursday. The 6’1″ guard can play either spot in the backcourt as a good ball handler with excellent catch-and-shoot ability. Finished with a team-high 16 points in the win. Averaging 14.3 points on 47% shooting from beyond the arc.
Aidan Lambert Aidan Lambert 6'3" | SG Snider | 2022 State IN (Fort Wayne Snider H.S. 2022): Pretty easy to write a glowing evaluation when you see a kid score 51 points. Lambert is a super-explosive guard that can score it from all three levels. He is excellent at creating his own shot off of the dribble with a very nice pull-up jumper. Creates separation from his defender with ease. High level shooter. Extremely athletic above the rim finisher. Lambert is a bucket-getter.
Joe Reidy Joe Reidy 6'7" | SF Woodlan | 2022 State IN (Woodlan H.S. 2022): Reidy was very impressive on Saturday as Woodlan went toe-to-toe falling just short of Central Noble. The 6’7″ forward is extremely versatile on both ends of the floor. He handles the ball well and is an excellent right hand driver from the perimeter. Made plays for teammates as well showing off good vision and unselfish passing ability. One of the best rebounders available in state at this point. Excellent DII/NAIA recruit.
Charlie Smith Charlie Smith 6'1" | PG Fishers | 2022 State IN (Fishers H.S. 2022): Calm, cool, and collected point guard. Smith was the steady force the Tigers needed to escape with a double overtime win at Hamilton Southeastern on Friday. He was excellent with the ball playing without turning it over and driving it hard against pressure. Knocked down his free throws when it counted and had a couple of very tough finishes at the rim when he got to the paint.
Reph Stevenson Reph Stevenson 6'7" | PF Hamilton Southeastern | 2023 State IN (Hamilton Southeastern H.S. 2023): Very high upside forward in the 2023 class. Stevenson is 6’7″ and gets stronger every time I see him. Really bulking up and it is making him much more effective inside. He is developing into an excellent finisher, has a nice right handed hook shot, and is a very good rebounder. Definitely a name to remember. 10 points & 5 rebounds per game for the Royals.
Devon Woods Devon Woods 5'10" | PG Pike | 2023 State IN (Pike H.S. 2023): The shifty 5’10″ point guard played very well Tuesday night. Woods is super quick with the ball in his hands and is an excellent playmaker off of the dribble. Showed off a good looking pull-up jumper that will make him that much more dangerous. Excellent passer as he drives it. Averaging 10.8 points, 5 assists, and 2.6 steals for a 4-1 Pike squad.
