Willow Canyon 66 at Shadow Ridge 76 OT
Mountain Pointe 55 at Perry 85
Various games of North Valley Christian Academy Invitational
Senior standouts of the week:
Luke Arington Luke Arington 6'3" | SG Shadow Ridge | 2022 State AZ Shadow Ridge (Featured image)
I watched Luke in a barn burner against Willow Canyon. Off the curl there might not be a better shooter in the valley. He lit the defense up for 39 points and didn’t take a lot of shots. Many of them were contested but it didn’t matter.
Tyren Gibbs PG 5’8 Shadow Ridge
Ty ran the offense about efficiently as you could want your point guard to in the Willow Canyon game. Tight on the ball defense is also a staple of Ty’s game. He hit some outside shots that kept the defense honest.
Ja’Mir Denson CG 5’10 Shadow Ridge
The senior guard came out the gate quick against Willow Canyon. He hit multiple 3’s and displayed some crafty moves. He finished with over 20 points. Ja’Mir should be a major part of the 3 headed monster at Shadow Ridge.
Tanner Pate Tanner Pate 6'3" | SG Mountain Pointe | 2022 State AZ Mountain Pointe
Tanner’s early shooting kept Mountain Pointe close early against Perry. He is one of the top catch and shoot shooters in the state. If you leave him open he can go on a run of 4 or 5 in a row.
Pike Tancil Pike Tancil 6'2" | PG Willow Canyon | 2022 State AZ Willow Canyon
Pike showed his all around game against Shadow Ridge. Every time he steps on the court he will be on the brink of a triple double. He was no different in this game finishing with 21 pts, 8 assists and 6 rebounds. Pike is an excellent passer with great court vision.
David Bright David Bright 6'3" | SF Willow Canyon | 2022 State AZ Willow Canyon
Quietly Bright had the best game overall for Willow Canyon against Shadow Ridge. He only attempted 10 shots but finished with 21 points along with 10 rebounds. He did this despite being in foul trouble most of the game and eventually fouling out.
Rob Jenkins Rob Jenkins 6'3" | CG Cactus | 2022 State AZ Cactus
Quick point guard who pushed the pace in Cactus’ win in opening game of NVCA Tournament. Well built and could be a prospect that could develop into a college contributor.
Kyree Bell Kyree Bell 6'4" | PF Central | 2022 State AZ Central
Active forward who hit some three pointers in the game that I saw. As he’s always been he showed his activeness on the offensive and defensive glass.
Garrison Sherman Garrison Sherman 6'7" | SF Scottsdale Christian Academy | 2022 State AZ Scottsdale Christian Academy
Athletic wing who will throw down one on you if you’re not paying attention. On offense he showed a good feel for the game and on the defensive end he played the passing lane extremely well.
Michael Fan Michael Fan 5'10" | PG Scottsdale Christian Academy | 2023 State AZ Scottsdale Christian Academy
The senior guard found his shooting touch early in the 1ST quarter of the game against Central. Fan will have to be a major contributor for SCA this season.
Xavier Ali Xavier Ali 6'8" | PF Phh Prep | 2022 State AZ Sandra Day O’Connor
The senior is a fluid energetic athlete who uses his length on both sides of the floor. In the game against host team NVCA his 3 ball was on and he was slashing to the goal. He is transitioning to a full wing and should be on coaches radar.
