James Mathews James Mathews 6'2" | PG University Prep | 2023 NY 2023 University Prep – 6’2 Mathews stole the show this weekend at the Peppino’s Invitational in Syracuse, coming from Rochester and having a career-high 40 points at the Syracuse basketball tournament. Off the dribble, catch and shoot, and in transition, Mathews was the best player in the gym on Saturday.
Damani Barley Damani Barley 6'5" | PG Rochester East | 2023 State #158 Nation NY 2023 Rochester East High School – Barley showed why he is one of the top players in the state in a challenging game against Liverpool. Barley scored 28 points in a 77-70 loss and nearly led his team to a big upset win. Since the summer, he looks to have gained weight and muscle; Barley will be in the conversation for Player Of The Year this season.
Gavin Doty 2024 Fulton High School – Was a lovely surprise seeing Doty for the first time, and he did not disappoint. Twenty-four points, ten rebounds, four assists, and four steals to lead Fulton to a big win over Fowler. Doty is a sophomore who will be one to watch over the coming years.
Andrew Ash 2024 Liverpool High School – Holding offers from Bryant & Stony Brook Ash did not disappoint in a big win over Rochester East. With 23 points and what seemed to be just as many rebounds, Ash is a big-time mid-major prospect with a ton of upside!
Joel Baez Joel Baez 6'4" | SG Archbishop Stepinac | 2022 State NY 2022 Liverpool High School – Works was the reason Rochester East could not pull off an upset on Saturday, every time East got within striking distance Works made another play to keep them at bay. With 19 points, Works showed why he is the leader of a team that holds two of the best sophomores in the state. Jacob is the player whose hands you want the ball in big moments. He is a great player with phenomenal poise.
