Beverly Hills Tournament Top 2022s Pt. 1

<p>This time of year is a big time for tournaments and showcases and Beverly Hills High School is playing host to their tournament throughout the week. I was able to stop by the tournament this week and there was a lot of strong teams and good talent. Here’s a quick look at some of the standouts I saw.</p> <p><strong>1. [player_tooltip player_id="974065" first="Jackson" last="Hopps"] - Culver City 2022</strong></p> <p>Hopps is an athletic wing who can play on or off ball. With the ball in his hands, he can initiate offense in the halfcourt. He had a couple of nice step-through moves to get closer to the rim and he’s a solid finisher. He can handle the ball in transition as well. Off the ball, he moves well and he can knock down three-point shots as the trailer on the break. He has a consistent shot from distance. He does a good job lurking along the baseline in the dunker spot and getting open.</p> <p><strong>2. Ben Eisendrath - Oakwood 2022</strong></p> <p>Eisendrath was a solid wing with good handles. He can put the ball on the floor in the halfcourt and he can slash to the rim and finish strong. He looks comfortable with the ball in his hands. He’s also a knockdown shooter from three-point range. Good catch and shoot player who steps into his shot well. He also does a good job moving without the ball. He uses off-ball screens well to get free for a pass that leads to an open shot. </p> <p><strong>3. Chris Hammond - Campbell Hall 2022</strong></p> <p>Hammond is a player I’ve seen before and he always stands out for his versatility as a big man. He’s a good interior defender who does well as the weak side shot blocker, but his mobility allows him to cover and contest wings as well. He’s a good passer in the high post. He has good vision and looks for teammates around the rim. Offensively, he can make quick moves off the dribble and he runs the floor well in transition.</p> <p><strong>4. Grant Foster - St Monica 2022</strong></p> <p>Foster is an undersized player but he’s tough and competes on the defensive end. A couple of times he was matched up against Campbell Hall’s bigs and he was able to hold his ground. He can handle the ball in halfcourt sets. He’s got good vision and he can pass well off the dribble. He can get to the rim but he could stand to finish a little bit stronger. He can shoot off the dribble in the midrange.</p>
