Continue ReadingThough it may be early in the basketball season, a few things have been clear so far: teams are hungry, have been well prepared thanks to a full off-season of basketball and practices, and many teams look to be at the top of their games already. The 2021-22 season has started off strong and many players have already been able to show their skills and abilities in a variety of ways on the floor. Early season close games continue to show how capable any team is of knocking off a top team at any time and the beginning of the season is no time to coast or hold back. Continue reading for a look at some of the recent action from across the state of Idaho.
Post Falls vs. Central Valley (WA): Though this is a page dedicated to Idaho basketball, it must be noted that Dylan Darling of Central Valley led all scorers by putting up a very impressive 53 points en route to a narrow win over Post Falls. Dylan scored at all levels and only missed one field goal attempt throughout the entire game. On the other side of the court, Post Falls has a young group who were led by 25 points from freshmen Tyrus Blake. Blake knocked down 5 threes and showed that he could score at all levels. In addition, Jack Sciortino Jack Sciortino 6'1" | SG Post Falls | 2022 State ID had 15 points and 4 assists to round out the double digit scoring.
St. Maries vs. Priest River: Again staying up north, St. Maries showed early and often that they are eyeing another state championship run this season during their victory over Priest River. St. Maries used a balanced attack led by 15 points from Grayson Sands, including 3 three-pointers. Coleman Ross Coleman Ross 6'2" | SG St. Maries | 2022 State ID added 11 points while Colby Renner had a very productive game in which he scored 12 points and rounded out a double-double thanks to his 11 rebounds. For Priest River, it was a tough scoring night with James Yount being the only player in double-figures at 10 points, followed by 9 points from Trentyn Kreager Trentyn Kreager 6'2" | SG Priest River | 2022 State ID .
