PH spent Saturday November 13 at the Modesto Christian Scrimmage featuring top teams from NorCal and some from the Central Section an area close to Fresno, CA. 12 teams, 3 groups of 4, each playing the teams in their group. We’ll look into group III. Clovis West, from the Fresno area, Modesto Christian the host, Elk Grove from the Sacramento Area, and Campolindo from Moraga.

First Team Group III

[player_tooltip player_id="1119247" first="Jamari" last="Phillips"] 6’3 G of Modesto Christian HS 2024

Phillips showed why he’s a Nationally Ranked 2024 prospect. He exudes confidence, and an advanced set of skills that puts him on par for the course he’s on. He’ll get stronger and bigger as he continue to hones his next level skill set. Top players separate themselves not on attempts but makes. He does that in a variety of ways.

[player_tooltip player_id="766882" first="Tyus" last="Parrish-Tillman"] 6’8 F of Clovis West HS 2022

It was our first look at Parrish-Tillman. He looks the part of an experienced player in and around the post area who can score. He doesn’t seem to mind the physical play that goes on. He worked well from the high post using his body to get closer, decent footwork, and a consistent shot from the elbow. He has a physical presence in the paint, to which he might be able to dominate, at times. We’ll see more of him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1253158" first="Prince" last="Oseya"] 6’9 F/C of Modesto Christian HS 2023

Oseya continues his rise up the charts, still a bit raw, he’s making progress at a good pace. His offense hasn’t quite matched his effectiveness on defense, but he continues to show at 6’9 his length and touch around the rim are good. His biggest contribution now is his paint presence, shot blocking, changing shots, defending other post players, and rebounding.

[player_tooltip player_id="766857" first="Ameere" last="Britton"] 6’2 G of Elk Grove HS 2022

The DI prospect plays at a high level, and has been a consistent performer throughout his high school days. He’s one of NorCal’s top unsigned 2022 prospect. He can play either guard position but is mostly put in scoring mode to help his team win. He’s a 3 level scorer with great strength and hops to finish at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="1118939" first="Cade" last="Bennett"] 6’1 PG of Campolindo HS 2022

Bennett’s rise is the result of nodays off attitude. He’ll be a key piece to the Campos Championship run if there is one. He’s a high IQ player, with the skills to properly run the team offense. He controls the pace at times. His decision making at the PG position is in line with what he’s been doing for a while now. He finds open shooters, gets into the paint, he takes and makes quality shots.

Second Team Group III

[player_tooltip player_id="1129031" first="Alex" last="Argandar"] 6’1 PG of Modesto Christian HS 2022

Argandar has been steadily improving his play at the point position. He’ll have plenty of players he can go to as he looks to whip the ball around the court. He has good vision and crisp passing as he plays under control, and will hit the 3 shot to keep defenders honest.

Isaac Martinez 5’10 G of Clovis West HS 2023

It was our first look at Martinez. He’s a quality CG that can get overlooked at times, but keep watching and you’ll see he can score the ball at a good rate. Martinez can hit the 3-point shot in transition, and in the half court. He can get into the paint for jumpers and floaters regularly. He’ll keep the pressure on defenders, he’s a good court runner, and makes good decisions. We’ll see him again.

[player_tooltip player_id="1256520" first="Ty" last="Virgil"] 6’4 G/W of Modesto Christian HS 2024

Virgil’s game is coming along nicely as he adjusts to his new surroundings. The long wiry Virgil is still growing, and filling his frame as he showed why he’s one of the better players in the NorCal 2024 Class. He has a good release on the catch and shoot from 3. He gets to his spots for shots off the dribble. Good players make adjustments, he’s doing that. We’ll keep an eye on him.

[player_tooltip player_id="950887" first="Logan" last="Robeson"] 6’3 SG of Campolindo HS 2023

Robeson is a energy player that’s a threat to get hot and runoff 3 or 4, 3-point shots at any given time during the course of game. He was 4/5 during one stretch of play. He works at doing other things to add balance. He’s aggressive on the drive into the paint for pull up jumpers. He’ll run to his spots in transition. He’s an aggressive defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="947835" first="Dajon" last="Lott"] 6’8 PF/C of Elk Grove HS 2022

Lott is starting to realize the effects he can have on a game working from the inside out. At 6’8, or 9, he has the frame and body to be hard to guard inside. He faces up pretty well and can hit the elbow jumper, and he likes to venture out for a 3-point shot at the top that does in. More deliberate post work will raise his game, and help his team.

Third Team Group III

[player_tooltip player_id="1253235" first="Manasse" last="Itete"] 6’6 PF of Modesto Christian HS 2024

Itete is a rising player in the NorCal class of 2024. He will be a key contributor on this team. His physical play, and productivity inside will be monitored closely. He was effective using his body and strength to go up with force off two feet. He’s a big target, with long arms, and good hands to feed the post. He’ll get his rebounds.

Shane O’Reilly 6’2 G of Campolindo HS

It was our first look at O’Reilly. He has good awareness and foot speed on the court. He sprints the court in transition, he moves, and cuts without the ball, and he’s a good passer. He can shoot pretty well using the mid-range jumper and dropping a few 3’s along the way.

[player_tooltip player_id="1255034" first="Justin" last="Yasukochi"] 6’3 G/F of Campolindo HS 2022

Yasukochi spent time working in and around the high post area where had some effect. He seems to have beefed up a bit and didn’t mind a little banging in the post. He’s a good passer, made nice cuts to the basket. We know he’s a heady player who’ll make a contribution at the high post or on the perimeter. He has a good shot.

Jordan Hess 5’7 G of Elk Grove HS 2022

Hess shot the ball well from 3 throughout this event. When he’s making shots, he makes this a more balanced team and adds to his overall game. He’s been a productive player who can run the teams offense, and spread the ball around.

Tyler Bergen 5’6 PG of Campolindo HS 2023

He’s one of those speedy guards who’s in constant motion. This style works best for him when he can get out in transition pushing, looking and passing it up to runners filling lanes. He’s got good handles and foot speed to get into the paint for floaters and dish off passes. He’ll knock down 3’s if left unattended.
