PDE's Picks: Class 3A All-State Team

Class 3A has some players that truly "get it out the mud". They are dogs on the defensive end and no how to nail the dagger into teams on the offensive side. My selections for my 3A all-state team represent that persona. These ten really are the best of the best in class 3A. Players are listed in alphabetical order 1st Team G/F - [player_tooltip player_id="1051638" first="Troy" last="Cole"] (6’4" | Donaldsonville | Sr.) F - [player_tooltip player_id="781838" first="Percy" last="Daniels"] (6’9" | Maidson Prep | Sr.) G - [player_tooltip player_id="981595" first="Christian" last="Ferguson"] (6’5" | BTW N.O. | Sr.) G - [player_tooltip player_id="1275269" first="Joseph" last="Manning"] (6’3" | Bossier | Sr.) F - [player_tooltip player_id="781862" first="Pat" last="Williams"] (6’5" | Wossman | Sr.) Now that he is finished with his football experience, [player_tooltip player_id="1275269" first="Joseph" last="Manning"] can concentrate on being the best player on the hardwood. He has a ridiculously basketball IQ and his two-way play will have him competing for class 3A MOP all season. Manning will compete with [player_tooltip player_id="781838" first="Percy" last="Daniels"] for that crown. Daniels appeared to have taken his game to another level this summer and I think that will carry out through the Seton Hall commits senior season. [player_tooltip player_id="981595" first="Christian" last="Ferguson"] is the best shooter in 3A. His final season at BTW-New Orleans should be an epic one as they head to class 4A next season. [player_tooltip player_id="1051638" first="Troy" last="Cole"] showed coaches all summer that he can take over games with his combination of offense and defense. Him being on my 3A team is a no-brainer in my eyes. [player_tooltip player_id="781862" first="Pat" last="Williams"] will be one of the defensive leaders for Wossman this season because of his ability to defend on the perimeter and in the post. Adding the facts that he can run the floor very well and score around the basket because of his athleticism is the chief reason he is my fifth and final first team selection. 2nd Team G/F - [player_tooltip player_id="1275313" first="Zaren" last="James"] (6’4" | University Lab | Sr.) G/F - [player_tooltip player_id="970130" first="Courtney" last="McCarthy"] (6’5" | Richwood | Jr.) G - [player_tooltip player_id="1275285" first="Adam" last="Mercier"] (6’0" | Parkview Baptist | Sr.) G - [player_tooltip player_id="1211165" first="Albert" last="Shell"] (6’3" | Wossman | Sr.) G - [player_tooltip player_id="1208076" first="Jaquevius" last="Thompson"] (6’3" | Caldwell Parish | Sr.) [player_tooltip player_id="970130" first="Courtney" last="McCarthy"] is one of the most underrated players in Louisiana. Not too many people can do the things he does at 6’5". For that reason, he is one of my all-state selections. [player_tooltip player_id="1208076" first="Jaquevius" last="Thompson"] is a three level scorer who was largely unheard of around the state until he started putting up buckets against some of the top teams this summer. He was a 3A honorable mention selection at the end of last season and makes my 3A team for this early season. [player_tooltip player_id="1275285" first="Adam" last="Mercier"] had a season to remember for class C Family Christian last year. His full skill set will translate well on the 3A level. It is also the reason why I made him an all-state selection. [player_tooltip player_id="1275313" first="Zaren" last="James"] will have a breakout season for University Lab. His ability to score inside and out makes him second team worthy. [player_tooltip player_id="1211165" first="Albert" last="Shell"] will get to play a role similar to the one Devonte Austin had for Wossman last season. I do not think he will put up the same numbers. However, he will have a season that merits this second team selection. Other players will have a say in the list that will come out at the end of the year. However, this team is who I feel are the best players to represent class 3A as the season carries on.
