Jamestown, ND - The 15U group had over 30 athletes show up in the Harold Newman Arena. It was great to see so many young players working hard to improve their games. The players did some ball handling, finishing, and shooting drills. Lastly, they got up and down and scrimmaged. It was a fun hour and a half. Read below to see who was the most impressive.

IMPRESSIVE PLAYERS Class of 2024

(alphabetically ordered)

[player_tooltip player_id="1329356" first="Brcen" last="Hoffer"] |6-2 G| West Fargo Sheyenne

He has proper shooting form and Hoffer hit multiple triples from the corner and wings. He has a nice and easy release that looks effortless. Brcen is very good at using his body to protect the ball when going up for a finish. Toward the end of the scrimmage, Hoffer was getting to the paint on demand. He will be another tough player in the stacked Mustang program.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144577" first="Carter" last="Vrchota"] |6-1 G| Central Cass

During the skills portion, Carter looked really good finishing with his left hand. He could make all the moves and finishes from every angle. He has great feet when catching for a shot or finishing around the rim. Vrchota got hot towards the end of the scrimmage and he let it rain from beyond the arc.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144578" first="Cole" last="Holzer"] |6-5 F| Central Cass

The first thing you notice about Holzer is his length. In the skills portion, Cole shined because of his ball-handling and his ability to finish with both hands. His shot is pure and Cole can fill-it-up from beyond the arc. In the scrimmage, Cole showed off his athleticism and skill with a rebound which lead to a coast-to-coast finish on the other end. He had multiple finishes in traffic where he elevated over defenders. Holzer also had multiple blocked shots, the Squirrels will need his rim-protecting this winter in the tough Region 1. He is a gifted player right now with a chance to be great. Holzer has a ton of potential.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144491" first="Damon" last="Glasser"] |6-3 G| Dickinson

He is a big and athletic guard. Damon has a great vertical, he can really get up. He was more explosive than I realized. Glasser was one of the best athletes in the gym. I like the looks of his shot. His mid-range pull-up was great. Expect big things from Glasser in the near future.

[player_tooltip player_id="1329335" first="Deng" last="Dut"] |5-11 SF| Horace

I loved his effort and communication. Deng was diving on the floor for loose balls. You don’t see that very often on a Sunday afternoon scrimmage. He cashed in multiple 3-pointers in the scrimmage. Deng found his hot spot from the left wing. I like Dut’s confidence and his shooting release.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144605" first="Jake" last="Shobe"] |5-11 G| Dickinson Trinity

He was one of the best on Sunday. This lefty is a cold-blooded shooter. Jake also has good handles and feet. At one point he came off a down screen, and he curled it, which led to a wide-open layup after he received the pass. That was awesome to see. Hardly anyone "uses" screens anymore and for a young player to have that kind of awareness and to know what cut to use was spectacular. That showed me that Shobe is a heady player with a great understanding of the game. Jake also posted up and hit a turn-around jumper. His mid-range game is lethal. On defense, he impressed me as a tough on-ball defender. Look for Jake to have a dynamite sophomore season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1167959" first="Jayce" last="Johnson"] |6-0 G| Mandan

This lefty played up with the 17U group because of a schedule conflict. Jayce is a nice athlete, he fit right in with the older players. I liked how Johnson finished after contact in the lane. He was also aggressive on the boards and he battled for 50/50 balls.

[player_tooltip player_id="1329402" first="Kaden" last="Kozojed"] |5-8 G| Hillsboro/Central Valley

He is a quick, explosive, and aggressive backcourt player. In the scrimmage, Kaden was in attack mode. He blew by many defenders to score or create for others. The Burros have another gifted athlete coming up in their program.

[player_tooltip player_id="1164764" first="Keyton" last="McGregor"] |6-1 G| West Fargo

He is a quick spark plug. When Keyton is catching and shooting, he sets his feet quickly. I like how he does the work before the ball gets to him. In transition, McGregor always had his eyes up looking for opportunities to push the ball. He had a few nice athletic drives from the wing. In the scrimmages, Keyton knocked down a couple of 3-balls as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1145107" first="Landon" last="Moser"] |6-0 G| Northern Cass

He was one of the best guards on Sunday. In the first half-hour of drills, I don’t know if Landon missed. Moser is a sharpshooter! He is also a quick player with fast-twitch moves. I like how he changes speeds. During the skills portion, Landon looked very good when working on the step-back move. in the scrimmage, Landon was deadly with his pull-up. I loved how Moser got in the lane and jumped stopped on two feet. From there he pivoted away from the defender and hit a fall-away jumper. Landon plays fast but he is always in control. He scored multiple buckets when he attacked from the baseline. The Jaguars have a very good guard in Moser. I expect him to have a big impact at the varsity level this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1145108" first="Luke" last="Martinson"] |6-4 F| Sargent County

He showed his athleticism off in the skills portion with impressive dunks. I was impressed with how Luke can finish with his left hand. He has really good feet when posting up and when finishing in traffic. I was impressed with Martinson’s on-ball defending. He was great at cutting the dribbler off and walling up to stop the attack. His mid-range jumper looks improved from last year. He will be a scary player in Region-1 this year.

[player_tooltip player_id="1145406" first="Max" last="Musland"] |6-3 SF| LaMoure-Litchville/Marion

He is a long player with arms that seem to never end. Max is a very fundamental player. I like how he passes the ball with crispness and strength. Musland showed off an intriguing spin-move in traffic during the scrimmage. I like his potential, fundamentals, and room for growth.

[player_tooltip player_id="1168300" first="Zach" last="Sykora"] |6-2 SF| Valley City

I like his footwork around the basket. Zach also showed great patience. He would wait until the defender left his feet before he would shoot. I was impressed with Sykora’s multiple moves and his head fake/ball fakes. Zach looked very good attacking from the baseline. He also snagged multiple O-boards. Zach has a nice well-rounded game with a bright future in Valley City.
