Top 12 Prospects in the Mountain State Conference: Part 1

<p>The Mountain State Conference has some of the best teams in the state and has one of the largest pools of prospects to choose from in the state.  For this top 12 list we will start at the top of the list with the best prospects coming out after this season and the list is based on the current rankings given by prep hoops.  The list will be updated multiple times throughout the season as well. </p> <p>1. [player_tooltip player_id="977577" first="Chandler" last="Schmidt"] (2022) | 6-1 PG | Cabell Midland  </p> <p>A word I continually hear from people when describing Chandler is that he is tough and you can see it with how he plays defense and hustles for lose balls.  He also has very good guard skills as well showing a knack for finding the open man or being able to pull up and hit a jump shot when his team needs it the most.  Last year he was able to drive in on most defenses and even with his smaller stature he finds a way to finish over taller defenders on a regular basis.  </p> <p>2. [player_tooltip player_id="977516" first="Ayden" last="Ince"] (2022) | 6-6 SF | Woodrow Wilson </p> <p>Ayden is a tall lengthy wing with a great shooting stroke and a solid vertical when driving.  He excels at catch and shoot threes and has shown improvement when driving to the basket.  This season I would like to see him drive more and improve his footwork when in traffic by the basket.  With his size and shooting Ayden has the potential to take the number 1 spot on this list this year.  </p> <p>3. [player_tooltip player_id="1051560" first="Anthony" last="Hersh"] (2022) | 6-0 PG SG | Capital</p> <p>I didn't get to see Anthony a lot last year but I know he is a very quick PG with solid passing and shooting skills.  He showed he can be a good scorer as well with a couple 20+ point games and drawing a lot of attention when on the break.  I am excited to watch him more this season and get a more solid idea on where to rank him on this list.  </p> <p>4. [player_tooltip player_id="977585" first="Drew" last="Reed"] (2022) | 6-4 SF | St. Albans</p> <p>Drew has immense potential with his solid size and he clearly has some natural basketball ability.  He scored over 14 PPG last year but it was not a particularly efficient year as he shot less than 50% from the floor and only 25% from 3.  He is a high volume 3 point shooter as well shooting over 6 3s per game last year so he needs to either increase his percentage or shoot less of them.  Depending on how this season goes he could move way up the list of prospects or he could see himself start to slide.  </p>
