TORRANCE, Calif. — Rolling Hills Prep, the 2021 CIF Southern Section Division 2AA champions, hosted its annual fall showcase event at North Torrance high school. Below we take a look at the standout performers from that event.

Dylan Black, Mira Costa - Black is the type of player who you can’t leave open for long. The 6-foot-2 guard is a lethal three-point shooter off the catch and can catch fire from deep in a hurry. Black, a junior, moves well without the ball in his hands, understands how to set up and come off of screens to get an open shot and utilized a shot fake to get rid of an overzealous defender. Black scored a team-high 28 points for Mira Costa in its win over Windward.

[player_tooltip player_id="748749" first="Benny" last="Gealer"], Rolling Hills Prep - Gealer put together the performance of the night as he scored 22 of his game-high 32 points in a comeback win over St. John Bosco. The 6-foot-2 senior has always been a guy known to score in bunches and in a variety of ways and this effort was no different. Gealer, a senior who has since committed to Stanford, has no conscious when it comes to his perimeter shooting. If the shot is there, he’s taking it. Gealer is a slithery ball handler and crafty finisher around the basket.

Jake Goldberg, St. Francis - St. Francis was missing a handful of players, so Goldberg took it upon himself to make up for those lost points. The 6-foot-4 wing has some sneaky bounce and athleticism to him which helps him in his transition and half-court finishing around the basket. Goldberg made some high IQ passes and decisions with the ball in his hands and showed some nice touch and consistency from the three-point and mid-range levels of the floor.

Will Householter, Mira Costa - Householter has a throwback feel to his game. The 6-foot-2 junior point guard has great feel as a floor general, is a reliable decision-maker with the ball in his hands and can knock down the open catch-and-shoot three or make defenses pay from deep when they go under ball screens. Householter isn’t flashy with his dribbling and doesn’t over-handle the basketball. Householter scored an efficient 27 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="994936" first="Jacob" last="Huggins"], Harvard-Westlake - Huggins continues to develop his all-around game and is adding more pieces to his arsenal each time we watch him play. The 6-foot-8 forward has great hands, touch and footwork, can step out to 15-17 feet and hit a face-up shot and has really improved as a physical, rim protecting presence on the defensive end of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="748761" first="Jack" last="McCloskey"], Mater Dei - There will be plenty of opportunity for McCloskey to see open shots on a Mater Dei team with multiple weapons and the ability to execute at a high level. The 6-foot-4 senior wing made the most of those opportunities in the Monarchs’ win over Westchester. McCloskey, one of the top unsigned seniors in Southern California, hit three triples en route to 13 points.
