The class of 2021graduated and left big shoes to fill across the area. These players may play a huge role in their team’s title contention.

Phil Nwugwo - Victor High School Class of 2022 - Losing in the AA sectional championship in the previous season, Nwugwo is the only returning starter from a team regarded as the best in the area last year. The 6’6 Forward picked up his first offer this summer, and after developing a consistent outside shot, it won’t be his only. He will return as the best rebounder in the area and the prospect with the most upside. Looking to return to the Sectional Finals, Nwugwo will need to show the same level of dominance he did this past summer.

[player_tooltip player_id= "1203465" first= "Ryan" last= "Heath"] - Irondequoit High School Class of 2023 - Losing four starters other than himself to graduation, Heath returns as the top offensive player in Section V. Heath can score in every way and PH scouts followed him all summer as he put up significant numbers every game. Now Heath will have to show he can lead an inexperienced team to another sectional final.

Xavier Gissendanner - Irondequoit High School Class of 2023 - Gissendanner transfers to Irondequoit from Bishop Kearney High School. A 6’4 Combo Guard who can do everything on the floor, but the first thing that caught my eye is his tenacity on the defensive side of the ball. It brings a D1 prospect that every team has on the schedule will have to gameplan for. He defends the best player on every team, and Gissendanner and Heath will be one of the Top Duos in Section V.

Will Taylor - McQuaid Jesuit High School Class of 2022 - Taylor will come into this season as an unknown player in the area as he did not play his junior season at McQuaid. That does not change that Taylor has the potential to be precisely what McQuaid needs to be successful with the loss of AGR [player_tooltip player_id="1203888" first="Keith" last="Warren"]. Taylor has the potential to put up 20 points a night with a quick first step and a beautiful jump shot in the midrange. Taylor will need to knock off some rust, but he will show many teams that he is a top guy in the area once he gets back to himself.

[player_tooltip player_id="1047360" first="Ben" last="Carey"] Webster Schroeder High School Class of 2022 - Carey is a pure point guard, possibly the best passer in the area. Returning to a team that lost two AGR players last season, Carey will have to take on a major scoring role for the Warriors. That should not be hard because Carey is a pure sniper from beyond the three-point line off the catch or dribble. Developing a nice floater game has also made Carey a scoring threat out of pick-and-roll situations.
