There’s a lot of depth in this class of 2023 players at the small forward position. While evaluating them with their club team, they’ve shown their capabilities of playing the position. With that being said some will transition into other positions while playing with their high school teams. Mainly closer to the basket, where they can be an effective post player as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="951340" first="Ains" last="Fish"] 6’5 of Redwood HS.

Fish is one of those players who’ll eventually end up in and around the post area if he keeps growing. He has a good set of skills play both forward positions, he can operate on the perimeter. He’s an excellent passer at the high post and can step out to hit 3’s at the top. He’s a good player around the basket, who’ll bring some toughness and rebounding in the post.

[player_tooltip player_id="1253144" first="James" last="King"] 6’5 of De La Salle HS.

King is a tireless worker. He has a physical presence in the paint, can score, defend and rebound working inside. During the live periods, his small forward skills emerged. He spent a good amount of time passing, handling the ball, and shooting. He’s developed some comfort as a player away from the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="950894" first="Jordan" last="Bobo"] 6’7 of Grant HS.

Bobo is a big man who could play away from the basket. He can shoot from the 3-point line. In half court sets he’s determined to prove he can play the perimeter. He’s still moving in that direction. Recently he has shown a willingness to play closer to the basket, where he has the size and ability to score more often. He’s a 2023 with a good upside. When he gets stronger, he’ll be more dominant in the paint. He’s setting himself up to be a good outside/inside prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="1114844" first="Aden" last="Curry"] 6’5 of Santa Cruz HS.

Curry has been steadily improving his skills away from the basket. No longer is he a physical muscular player who works well only in the post. He’s changed his body type. He’s slimmed down a bit with added confidence to play away from the basket. He moving comfortably on the perimeter, and is looking better handling the ball and looking for his outside shots. This could be a breakout season for him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1255642" first="Emmerson" last="Jones"] 6’6 of Salesian Prep.

Jones is a wing forward with plenty of room to improve his game and rise up the charts. The long forward gained valuable experience playing at the EYBL 16U. He’s a decent floor runner, finishes at the rim. He has good length around the rim to defend and change some shot. He has a good touch off the glass.

[player_tooltip player_id="1255936" first="Sam" last="Norris"] 6’6 of Sacred Heart Prep HS

Norris has a good set of basketball skills but has to get stronger to successfully execute. He can work inside and out with decent foot work around the basket, and some length to get his shot over taller players. He’ll make shots from the elbow and in, and will shoot from 3. He does a good job of running the court, and filling lanes in transition. He’s a good offensive rebounder right now.
