You won’t find many guards in the state of Indiana with more experience this season than Cannady. He has gotten run in the Cathedral High School backcourt dating back to his freshman season and is now ready to lead his team as a senior. Cannady displayed excellent pace with the ball in his hands on Tuesday night. He still is quick in the open floor and has a burst when getting downhill, but never appears sped up. That level of processing and poise will translate to the next level as will his high-motor which helps on the defensive end of the floor as well.

A lead guard that you could see make a major leap this high school season starting this summer is Cathedral’s Deric Cannady Deric Cannady 5'11" | PG Cathedral | 2025 State IN . The 6’0 lead guard is one of the more mature guards you will see in the Indiana high school class of 2025 that can control the pace of the game while also being a playmaker in the lane. He is coming off a season of 9.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game his junior year. While Cathedral has many talented guards, Cannady has positioned himself as the leader of that pack. Watch him and Cathedral Blue vs Franklin and North Central.

Cannady was one of the more mature guards in the gym this weekend at the IndyBall Shootout. Just a natural on the ball that shows a lot of craftiness around the basket as well. Like his ability to play as a true lead guard but also someone that can get you a bucket if needed. In a for a breakout sooner than later.
