Alsup had been committed to Southwest Baptist University since February, but recently had a change of heart and has flipped his commitment to Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Like Leache, this is another Division II program in the Great American Conference. The 6’7″ forward has continued to show his versatility while also brining outstanding energy to the floor. Alsup is very active as a help side defender and can block shots at a high level. Offensively, he has a knack for carving out space and scoring in the paint. Jantz can also put the ball on the floor and has room for growth as a floor spacer at the next level.

Another prospect who understands his role for his program. Alsup’s commitment to being a physical presence for Southern Ties paid off with a Redlands offer. He competed in a physical game against a taller LeGYnds line up. Which along with that lunch pail type play, he continued to flash a face up game to attack taller, slower, opponents. He can also be a mismatch problem, with improving footwork and great touch on post up attempts. With more moves and a variety of ways to do damage. Alsup also picked up an offer from Redlands, which checks out as he should be a top target for regional JuCos.

Alsup currently embraces his role as a “Blue Collar” undersized forward prospect. His plus wingspan and intensity allows him to play bigger than his size around the rim. And he’s starting to develop a strong back to basket game that makes him an efficient finisher and post up threat. Along with his post scoring, Alsup has range on his jumper that occasionally reaches beyond the arc. He still looks most comfortable in the mid-range. On the defensive end, he’s an equal hard worker, who is more than willing to compete and move his feet when matched up with guards. That’s a good long term sign, especially if he can continue to improve his footspeed. If he’s quicker and more nimbler to his movements, he could be one of the more versatile defenders in the class.

Alsup provided reliable post scoring throughout the contest for Grind Prep. He’s starting to add more confidence and variety to his post moves, with quick turns and more methodical, skilled and physical finishing. There’s a blue collar mentality to the way he went to work and took advantage of his size. But the hybrid forward wasn’t limited to just battling around the basket, he routinely hit in the mid-range and even extended out to the three point line in overtime. On the defensive end, Alsup also had some good reps in covering perimeter players, understanding how to move his feet and use his height and wingspan advantage to contest or even block shots without fouling.

A potential inside-outside threat, at a recent viewing with his new program (Grind Prep) Alsup attacked the basket on post ups and rebounds with renewed energy. Alsup blends an improving back to the basket game to take advantage of mismatches near the rim, with the framework to a be a floor spacing hybrid forward thanks to the ability to hit from distance. Right now he’s at his best defensively using his plus wingspan and size to battle around the basket, but showed signs of improving footspeed and a willingness to cover quicker players on the ball. If Alsup continues to improve his jumper and becomes more fluid as an athlete, he can be one of the most versatile players in Oklahoma’s Class of 2025.
