The Class of 2023 has a lot of talent, and could be one of the deeper classes we have seen come out of New Mexico with numerous division 2, and a few potential division 1 players. Some of these players have played a big role since their freshman year, and some stepped up in the first chance playing varsity last season. Here are the notable stock-risers in the updated Class of 2023 rankings.

CG [player_tooltip player_id="1076700" first="Exodus" last="Ayers"], La Cueva, #1 (+2): Ayers is arguably the best athlete in the entire state! A true combo guard that can breakdown his opponent and score at will, "Ex", is also one of the top playmakers, and defenders in the state. He enters this years rankings as the number one player in the class of 2023.

PG [player_tooltip player_id="1076702" first="Shane" last="Douma-Sanchez"], Del Norte, #2 (+5): SDS is another player in the conversation for top in the state. He finished his sophomore season receiving the Rivals 2021 New Mexico Mr. Basketball award, after leading Del Norte to the schools first state championship in history before sustaining an injury over the summer.

CG [player_tooltip player_id="1076706" first="Ely" last="Lovato"], Sandia, #5 (+4): Ely jumped into our top 5 after helping leading Sandia back to the playoffs. He is the lead guard for a stacked Matadors squad using his playmaking to get everyone involved, but can really score the rock using his strength to get to the rim.

PG Chris Parra Jr., Atrisco Heritage, #6 (+19): Chris had the biggest jump in our rankings proving to be a top ten player in the class. He's grown about 5 inches since his freshman year, is a lights out shooter, and will take the reign as the lead guard for a hungry Atrisco Heritage squad this coming season.

SF [player_tooltip player_id="1076717" first="Zavier" last="Lloyd"], Cibola, #13 (+7): Lloyd may be the top defensive player in the class. He's quick, and knows how to use his length to bother ball handlers, and shooters. He can be a bit aggressive which leads to foul trouble at times, but with another growth spurt he will be an intriguing prospect.

PG [player_tooltip player_id="1076724" first="Alexis" last="Dominguez"], Highland, #17 (+10): Alexis had the second highest jump in our rankings this year. He is one of the top shooters in the state, with a quick release both off the dribble and in catch and shoot situations. He will lead Highland again this season, but the chemistry between he and Jose will make them the favorites going into the season.
