Take a look at some of the recent commitments in the state of North Carolina as seniors make their college decisions before the season.

[player_tooltip player_id="848067" first="Patrick" last="Wessler"] | 7’0 Forward/Center | Combine Academy

Wessler didn’t waste any time making his commitment to the Virginia Tech Hokies, committing by the conclusion of his official visit. He’s the second commitment in their 2022 class and fills a much-needed frontcourt hole with his size at 7-foot and ability to play inside and out. He’ll be fun to watch in the Hokies rotation in the near future.

[player_tooltip player_id="1008879" first="Cade" last="Tyson"] | 6’6 Wing/Guard | Carmel Christian

Things sped up in a hurry this past summer for [player_tooltip player_id="1008879" first="Cade" last="Tyson"] as he saw his recruitment grow a ton and in that, he came out the other side of his recruitment with a pledge to Belmont University. Given his versatility, he’s got solid potential to play multiple roles with his squad at the next level. His development will be fun to watch at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1008878" first="Micah" last="Handlogten"] | 7’0 Center/Forward | SouthLake Christian

Handlogten is off the board in NC’s 2022 class, making his college decision to attend Marshall University. He’s a 7-foot mobile big man with a ton of potential as a rim runner, rim protector and finisher around the rim. He’ll be one to watch developing with the Thundering Herd at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1022040" first="Iffy" last="Ufochukwu"] | 6’10 Center | Covenant Day School

Ufochukwu made his college decision on Monday evening much to the joy of his coaches over at Team Curry and Covenant Day. He’s set to boost the Boston University rotation with his ability to protect the rim and play in the paint. As his game expands, so should his role with the Terriers.

[player_tooltip player_id="574446" first="Bryce" last="Alfino"] | 6’3 Guard | Combine Academy

Alfino was another prospect that made his commitment on his official visit, wasting no time in making his decision to attend Old Dominion. He gives them a two-way player that has the potential to make an immediate impact given his ability to defend and shoot the ball. His development will be fun to watch with the Monarchs basketball program.

[player_tooltip player_id="838046" first="Sam" last="Perez"] | 6’7 Wing/Forward | Trinity Academy Raleigh

Perez is staying in the state after making his announcement to play for High Point and head coach Tubby Smith. He’s a versatile prospect that’s really developed as a slasher and shooter on the perimeter and gotten stronger in the weight room. He’ll improve the shooting and size for High Point next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="932129" first="Xavier" last="McKelvy"] | 6’2 Guard | United Faith Christian Academy

McKelvy made his college announcement this past week, pledging to Winthrop University. He’s set to make an impact as a member of Winthrop’s 2022 recruiting class with his ability to attack the rim with his athleticism and defend at a high level. Look for him to make an impact right away for the Eagles.

[player_tooltip player_id="1219922" first="Kolbe" last="Ashe"] | 6’0 Point Guard | Hayesville High

Ashe is an impressive point guard prospect that’s found a college home prior to the season. He recently made his pledge to DII Palm Beach Atlantic in the state of Florida. He’ll enjoy some warm weather and nice views while continuing to develop his game at the next level. Look for him to have a strong senior campaign at Hayesville High.
