Recruiting Report: Nachae Nez (2017)

Photo of Nachae Nez taken by Daily Times &nbsp; <strong>Nachae Nez</strong> stepped on to the Chinle bus and awaited a trip to their next game as he and his team normally would. Everything was in line for the boys as they awaited their two-hour bus drive to Monument Valley, that is except that they would be playing this game without their head coach <strong>Raul Mendoza.</strong> Mendoza would be out on this night due to a family emergency. With this being, before the tip off, Nez texted his coach and said “I will keep everyone in line tonight.” And that is exactly what he did. The final score of the game was Chinle 58, Monument Valley 41. Nez had 21 points, 7 steals, and 6 assists. Nachae Nez is the starting point guard for the Chinle Wildcats. Which, to him, makes him like a second coach on the floor. He is a leader and a great one in that. His fellow team mates know that when it is time for Nez to take over the team, he will. At this point in the season, Nez is averaging 12 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals per game. “I would like to go to a school that will get me the best education possible so I may be successful…” Nez told me, “As well as playing hoops.” He then said that he has received offers from two schools: Lamar Community College, Colorado, and Little Big Horn College, Montana. He has yet to sign to either of the two as he awaits to see what other offers may be coming his way. But that is next year and as for this season that is coming to a close Nez told me “The team chemistry looked good tonight, we hope to keep it that way heading into February.” At 5-foot-9 Nez is a bit undersized, but that does not stop him from pursuing his goal to play next level basketball. He has a great awareness of the game and a very high basketball IQ. I do believe Nachae Nez will be a great college player.
