Sometimes they’re home grown and sometimes they’re transplants but either way we don’t have a massive list of players making waves in high school. Frank Jackson might have been the last player to make noise like that.
We have had major talent in the past few years like Yoeli Childs, Matt Van Komen, Ryland Jones and Dallin Hall Dallin Hall 6'4" | PG Fremont | 2020 State #301 Nation UT . Let’s hope that this is the start of something that is here to stay as we get more talent from the state of Utah. Last weekend two Utah players were invited to represent the West in the Pangos All-American game that featured 4 teams. The North, South, East and West put together some great teams and the West featured 6’9 Jaxon Kohler and 6’5 Collin Chandler Collin Chandler 6'5" | CG Farmington | 2022 State #28 Nation UT both Utah natives. Collin was excellent in the two games to add to his resume to continue to rise up the charts as one of the best guards in the country. Jaxon Kohler had himself a memorable and ridiculous final game. Both players put on for Utah and all the other players putting in work here.

Collin was in his bag this past weekend possibly caping off his time playing in events before the high school season gets started. Collin was showcasing multiple dimensions to his game. The ability to create for others and an elite vision was on this weekend as he found cutters and played some major unselfish ball. One of the more impressive plays was him hitting a defender with a pump-fake and relocating and hitting a deep three as he was fouled. He is not just out there dunking and taking long jumpers he is slashing to the basket and getting others involved. Big time game in a big time event.

Jaxon was a man possessed as he was just active and was quick to get to his moves and counters as all of his bag was on display. While Jaxon has a big body most defenders try to body him to slow him down but when he spins on contact he shows how agile he can be and crafty he can get as he takes what the defense gives him. Loved the play when he hit a defender that was walled up against him that had length over him and he simply used a one foot fade away to get distance to get his shot off. Jaxon was this weekends MVP as he posted a 53 Piece along with 23 rebounds. to help propel the West team to a win and bragging rights for the West and all Utah kids.
