Prep Hoops Louisiana Top 250 Expo: 2022 Combo Guards (1/2)

<p>Check out my analysis from some of the standout point guards of the 2022 class that were on full display during the 2021 Prep Hoops Louisiana Top 250 Expo. I got a hands-on look at all of these high-level athletes. Look for their stock to continue to rise after some very impressive performances!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1270097" first="Kevin" last="Wiltz"] 2022- Breaux Bridge High School</strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/08/Wiltz-Kevin-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1269787" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/08/Wiltz-Kevin-2-300x200.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></a></p> <p>Kevin is a lanky combo guard who is very skilled with the basketball. I was impressed with his pairing of size, speed, and ability to fluidly drive and attack the rim. He is also a good playmaker; he is skilled at putting passes through tight windows and is a good decision-maker in the pick and roll. He is a good finisher around the rim with both hands and puts a lot of pressure on the defense in the paint. He is a capable shooter from beyond the arc and in the midrange as well, but I would like to see him take more shots in the midrange and work on his floater in traffic.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1270111" first="Evan" last="Savoy"] 2022- St. Thomas More High School, Lafayette</strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/08/Savoy-Evan-4.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1269753" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/08/Savoy-Evan-4-300x200.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></a></p> <p>Evan is an intelligent combo guard who can knock down shots all around the arc. He is a deadly shooter when paired with a teammate who puts pressure on the defense at the rim. He can be used as a real weapon on the offensive end with his shooting ability. I was impressed with his ability to make the right reads and with his off-ball movement. He is great at cutting without the ball and finding weak spots in the defense. I would like him to work on his ability to set up his teammates and putting the pressure on the defense as a playmaker.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="932845" first="Jawarren" last="Cade"] 2022 Many High School</strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/08/Cade-Jawarren-3.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1269676" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/08/Cade-Jawarren-3-300x200.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></a></p> <p>Jawarren is a lank aggressive combo guard. He is great on ball defender who is not afraid to get into the body of a defender and make him uncomfortable. He is an intelligent passer on the pick and roll, he manipulated defenses very will in those sets. He has a soft touch in the paint at the rim and has a floater he is comfortable with. He is a good shooter from beyond the arc, but his mechanics need work. I would like to see him raise his release point a bit. The energy he provides on both ends is a coveted trait at the next level, this is a prospect to keep your eye on.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="981496" first="Channing" last="Arvie"] 2022- JS Clark Leadership Academy</strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/08/Arvie-Channing-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1269666" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/08/Arvie-Channing-2-300x200.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></a></p> <p>Channing is a sharpshooting combo guard who moves well without the basketball. He is great at always staying ready and has a quick release. I would like to see him raise the starting point of his jumper; however, it goes in at a high clip already. He is a strong defender who can defend high level wings as well. He is a patient scorer; he plays at his own pace and does not get sped up by intense defense. He has the perfect blend of athleticism and shooting that coaches are looking for at the next level to become a three and d type player.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
