The 17U All State Team – Non Minnesotans – Take 2

<p>The Non Minnesotans 17U All State Team.  Honoring the best players that competed for Minnesota 17u Teams that weren’t from Minnesota. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>First Team</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1046352" first="Treysen" last="Eaglestaff"] of D1 Minnesota (Bismarck, ND). If Helming wasn’t the out of state MVP it would be because of the shooting of UND bound Eaglestaff  Trey’s confidence in making shots was there regardless if it was an EYBL team, Adidas team, UAA team, or Prep Hoops Circuit team he was facing.  Big potential. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1158420" first="Wyatt" last="Helming"] of Minnesota Lightning (Lake Mills, IA). Helming may have been the out of state MVP at times this year.  After helping lead Lake Mills to a 25-1 season as the second leading scorer and rebounder, he was the inside force for the Lightning scoring and rebounding all year. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="787658" first="Joe" last="Hurlburt"] of D1 Minnesota (Enderlin, ND). I thought Hurlburt assimilated well to all of the talent on the D1 Minnesota roster rebounding solid, scoring in active ways, and hitting a jumper or two each game. His performance with the North Dakota Phenom was outstanding so he finished the summer on a strong note.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="682279" first="Tamin" last="Lipsey"] of D1 Minnesota (Ames, IA). Lipsey missed the first event of the year and was injured later in July so the Iowa State committed guard had a bit of a limited 17u season.  D1 Minnesota was 15-8 when Lipsey played as he was the balance and the defensive on-ball toughness of the team. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="801139" first="Christopher" last="Morgan"] of Grassroots Sizzle Caldwell (Kaukauna, WI). Morgan averaged 21 points and 7 assists a game last winter as a junior and that followed that up by leading the Sizzle to a solid spring and summer.  Committed to Purdue-Fort Wayne.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Second Team</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1261418" first="Evan" last="Bennett"] of Starks Elite (Superior, WI).  Bennett had a great 17u season often leading Starks Elite in scoring.  Averaged 16 points a game in their final event. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="988962" first="C.J." last="Campbell"] of Howard Pulley (New Richmond, WI).  Campbell is a D2 offered 6-foot-6 small forward that offered depth to a Howard Pulley team that won 32 games.  </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="812220" first="Gus" last="Hurlburt"] of D1 Minnesota Prospects (Enderlin, ND). Hurlburt was the hard working big that defended, set strong ball screens, finished at the cup, and brought energy. </p> <p><strong>Kevon Powell</strong> of Playmakers North (Ashland, WI).  Powell’s attack minded game off the ball mixed with his transition push opportunities.  He was a great compliment to Tre Brown and Ty Morrison all season. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1017075" first="Jalen" last="Womack"] of D1 Minnesota Prospects (Menasha, WI).  Womack was a steady ball handler, steady defender, and an excellent attacking finisher for the D1 Minnesota Prospects. Averaged 18 points, 7 boards, and 8 assists as a junior in Wisconsin.  </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><br /> <strong>Third Team</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1158479" first="Dalton" last="Dibert"] of Minnesota Lightning Studer (Kee, IA). Dibert is a tough guard that averaged 17 points and 5 assists as a junior and was a Lightning playmakers. </p> <p><strong>Jack Janke</strong> of Minnesota Heat Hoyt (Ellsworth, WI).  A scholarship football talent that was really good for the team when he played but he didn’t play much because of injury. </p> <p><strong>Koy Nelson</strong> of Starks Elite (South Shore, WI). Nelson earned a reputation as one of the better three point shooters a lot of the small colleges saw. </p> <p><strong>Robert Olson</strong> of Playmakers North (Superior, WI).  Olson was a key reserve for Superior last year and then did a nice job playing a dual guard role for the Playmakers.</p> <p><strong>Michael Schurman</strong> of Minnesota Lightning Studer (River Falls, WI).  Schurman is one of the harder working players that our staff saw.
