The Team Sportsplex in Baton Rouge saw some of the best preps in Louisiana go head-to-head at the Prep Hoops Top 250. The event was one of three elite exposure camps (others were at Southern and Southern Miss) on the weekend and saw over 120 participants during the course of the day. Some of the best shooters around the Boot were burning up the nets in Baton Rouge during the day. From a day that was chalk full of games, we will look at preps who shot the lights out at the Top 250.

Elliot McQuillan (6’2" - Port Allen - 2023)

McQuillan began the day a little rough from deep.  Then he got a couple of dunks in transition and the basket opened up for him.  Elliot is a corner three specialist who is only getting better from the perimeter.  His confidence grew during the day and McQuillan began making threes from other areas as well.   Moving into next season, coaches will need to keep an eye on him because he is one of the most athletic sharpshooters around.

Channing Arvie Channing Arvie Channing Arvie 6'1" | SG JS Clark Leadership | 2022 State LA (6’2" - JS Clark Leadership - 2022)

Arvie has been one of the best shooters in the Boot for the last two seasons so nothing was surprising about how he shot the ball yesterday.  It was more of an affirmation of what he can do.  He has a smooth and seamless motion which helps with his consistency.  Every time he rose and fired on yesterday, the shot looked like it was going in.  Arvie is going to get plenty of open looks from deep and will nail them as he did in Baton Rouge yesterday.

Anthony Angelle Anthony Angelle Anthony Angelle 6'3" | CG St. Thomas More | 2024 State LA (6’2" - St. Thomas More - 2024)

STM is going to be a problem once again in class 4A/Division II and Anthony Angelle Anthony Angelle Anthony Angelle 6'3" | CG St. Thomas More | 2024 State LA is going to be a big reason why.  He was automatic in catch-and-shoot situations as he showed several times during the PH Top 250.  Angelle was also good at moving to open areas for shots especially after steals or offensive rebounds.  He is easily a shooter than can stretch defenses and will be thorn in the side of teams going forward.

Dakota Gasca Dakota Gasca Dakota Gasca 5'9" | CG West Monroe | 2022 State LA (5’11" - West Monroe - 2022)

Gasca was pretty good at moving the ball on the offensive end and made some very slick passes in transition during play in Baton Rouge.  While he showed that he has a future at the 1, he can still shoot the ball like a true shooting guard.  Gasca was pretty much automatic when he shot the ball which made it shocking when he missed.  He has been a sharpshooter and is going to be a handful this coming season for defenses to cover if he plays like he did at the Top 250.

Varnavous Narcisse Varnavous Narcisse 6'0" | CG Carencro | 2022 State LA (6’0" - Carencro - 2022)

Narcisse was not just a sharpshooter, he was a shotmaker all day.  He was very good at knocking down the triples when the ball was swung to him.  Those might have been his easier shots because made plenty of dribble stepback long range twos and dribble pull up twos and threes.  Narcisse made shots with hands in his face repeatedly.  He had a good rhythm going and showed that he is a player who can make tough shots in any situation.

Landon Strother (6’1" - Fairview - 2023)

Strother struggled early in the day but made up for it in the games later in the day.  Strother is a classical catch-and-shoot player who is very good at making outside shots when he has it going.  Like most shooters, he is pretty good moving without the ball.  Strother was not selfish either and made the extra pass to others.  Strother will definitely be a feared shooter against any team that plays Fairview during the season.

Other sharpshooters from the Prep Hoops Top 250

Canon Edgecombe Canon Edgecombe Canon Edgecombe 6'1" | CG St. Michael the Archangel | 2023 State LA (6’0" - St.Michael’s - 2023)

Brady Alexander Brady Alexander Brady Alexander 6'0" | CG Hornbeck | 2023 State LA (6’1" - Hornbeck - 2023)

Ayden Warren (5’10" - HS Menard - 2024)

Dennis Hebert (5’10" - Catholic - 2023)

Look for these sharpshooting preps to participate in upcoming evaluation camps at the various colleges in Louisiana and the surrounding states.  We have some of the better shooting guards around and they did a great job of proving that during the day at the Prep Hoops Top 250.
