Since the 2021-22 high school basketball season is not too far away, it’s say to start to digging into what to expect over the course of the season.

A lot of eyes will be on the 2023 class. There are a lot of prospects in the class that will look to improve their stock.

Here are 5 prospects from the class that should have a productive season.

Josh Holloway, St. George’s: Holloway should be one of the best guards in Division II-A next season because of his scoring ability. Holloway has sharp ball handles, and a quick step to get pass his defender. The point guard can make shots from 3 and is very efficient from the free throw line. For the past two seasons, Holloway has been one of the best point guards Division II. In 2021, he should be one of the best, again.

Seth Grandberry, Millington: Grandberry is coming off a sophomore season averaging 18.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.4 assists for the Trojans. The 5-foot-10 point guard is one of the best scorers in the state. Grandberry is a court visionary, doesn’t have an issue finding open teammates when his shot isn’t there. He can be effective in both transition and half-court. Grandberry is scrappy on the defensive end, always looking to make the opposing player work for a score. Grandberry doesn’t seem to be settling for what he did last season. I expect 2021 to be big for the Millington Central High product.

Michael Pepper, Christian Brothers: Pepper made a name for himself this summer playing for the Purple Wave during the Jerry Peters Memphis Summer Classic. The 6-2 guard can light it up from beyond the arc, which is what Christian Brothers will need from him during the 2021 season. After the Purple Wave lost snipers [player_tooltip player_id="775550" first="Reese" last="McMullen"] and [player_tooltip player_id="775593" first="Harrison" last="Kelly"], it’s only fitting for Pepper to step in and help seniors [player_tooltip player_id="996878" first="Chandler" last="Jackson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1162497" first="Zion" last="Owens"] on the offensive end. His shooting stroke seems to be right on the mark.

Marcel Reed, Montgomery Bell Academy: Reed will need to duplicate what he did during the Big Red’s Division II-AA state title run last season. He will need to make shots, play solid defense, limit turnovers, and run the offense. Reed’s athleticism will be a difficult task for defenders each night. The great thing about Reed is that he doesn’t force shots. If the shot isn’t there, Reed is going to make the right pass. MBA should feel great about having Reed back to lead the team.

Brock Vice, Houston: Vice will be the perfect big man to put in pick-and-roll situations this upcoming season. The 6-10 forward/center can step out and make shots from 3-point range. Vice sets hard screens and moves pretty well when he’s slashing to the basket. If Vice can become a solid post player on the block, he will be a handful. The potential is there. Vice has been working on his game this summer. He’s feasting on a breakout 2021 campaign.
