This elite group of players ended the AAU season ranked #1 in the PHD 17U: Final Top 15 rankings! SD Attack put miles on this year and played against top competition at major events around the country. They have many players that will go on and play college ball. From what I have heard, they are not just great at basketball, they are great kids as well. Read below to hear more about the 17U players on SD Attack. You will absolutely want to keep track of these players once the school season starts!

So far they have a Division-1 commit with [player_tooltip player_id="682290" first="Tanner" last="Te Slaa"] to South Dakota State University. Many others have interest and offers from a wide range of schools across the Midwest.

Team comments from coach Lee Taylor

"Loved this group from Day 1! Got better and better as the season went on with so many new faces…. but really hit our stride as we got rolling into July and played at a very high level…. got the opportunity to play some high-level games/programs which made our kids really compete but also showcase in front of a lot of college coaches! In Sioux Falls, we beat MN Fury and MN Comets before losing in OT vs. MN Select. In KC, beat Mid-Mo Elite, OSA Crusaders 3SSB (Adidas circuit team), and Team YOBO. These guys wanted to play against the top teams whether we won or lost so they could good better individually and as a team.

ROSTER

[player_tooltip player_id="682290" first="Tanner" last="Te Slaa"] (2022) |6-5 G/F| Boyden-Hull (IA) – Not much to say about Tanner other than rock solid! He marks every intangible box as a teammate to go along with his basketball ability on the court. He is going to be superb at South Dakota State University and can’t wait for him to take his game even to a higher level! As our season got going, he took on the challenge of being our leader and helped us get through those rough patches every team has. He is a special talent who has been in the program since he was in 7th grade. As a person, he embodies everything we stand for as a program.

[player_tooltip player_id="812199" first="Caden" last="Hinker"] (2022) |6-7 F| Mitchell – Talk about a great July! Outplayed a number of players who hold Division 1 offers and left nothing on the table. Overall, asserting himself more on both ends only made us a better team especially when we played those higher-level teams. So unselfish to a fault but our best passer and always looks to make the extra pass. He created so many opportunities for others which made us that much harder to guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="682280" first="Lucas" last="Lorenzen"] (2022) |6-4 G/F| Okoboji (IA) – We missed having him in the Spring as he was coming back from his injury during HS ball. As he got going in late June, every opportunity we played he just got better and better as he got healthier. In July, he gave us that extra boost we needed to play at that high level and showcased even though he was still not 100%. Big-time scorer which we knew coming in but what impressed us was his ability to defend and lock guys down…. In July, we put him on the opposing teams’ best players, and he was phenomenal. You will see his name come up a lot from now and through the winter season!

[player_tooltip player_id="812209" first="Cael" last="Lundin"] (2022) |6-3 G| Tea – Consistent is the word I use for Cael…. he took the reigns as the backup PG when Tanner was out and did a great job. First time playing the PG position which you would never know. Improved his handling the ball against pressure and creating opportunities by putting the ball on the floor for himself and his teammates. Had some really big scoring outbursts in games where he carried us. The next-man-up mentality when others didn’t have their best game, Cael was able to take the torch and go.

[player_tooltip player_id="963751" first="Lincoln" last="Kienholz"] (2023) |6-3 G| Pierre – Incredible athlete who played up this year on our 17s. Had some highlight-reel type finishes around and above the rim! As he got more and more comfortable with this group and his role, we all could see the level of play he is capable of. We started seeing more and more bursts of him being aggressive to create plays for himself and his teammates. Has a great feel for when he puts the ball on the floor and the help defender commits too early and he finds the open teammate. Going to be a dynamic guard for the next 2 years in the state and ranked one of the best.

[player_tooltip player_id="968173" first="Drew" last="Norberg"] (2022) |6-1 G| Watertown – As we got into the summer months, Drew started to play more aggressively which was huge for us. We needed him to step up and be an outside threat as he can really fill it up. Was able to do that and stretch defenses out which allowed other guys to attack the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="968165" first="Dylan" last="Marshall"] (2022) |6-2 G| White River – Consistent is the one word I use for Dylan. He was our glue guy who filled multiple roles on this team to help us play at a higher level. His effort never wavered and found himself in the right place at the right time. Plays very physically which allowed him to attack defenders and get to the rim. Capable knock-down shooter and hit some big 3’s for us at different times. One of our best on-ball defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id="962676" first="Jaxon" last="Meyer"] (2022) |6-4 F| West Lyon (IA) – An anchor on the defensive end inside for us…Not the tallest but no one was going to outwork or muscle Jaxon inside for position. Was our backup post player but did so much more than that. A great teammate and accepted his role on this team and did everything we asked him to do w/o hesitation.

[player_tooltip player_id="962615" first="Vance" last="Katzfey"] (2022) |6-3 G| Spirit Lake (IA) – Mr. Energy as we called him…whether he was starting or coming off the bench, Vance has a motor that never ends. He is an energy giver and came up with some big plays on both ends just from peer hustle. Excellent at attacking the rim and finishing…..as he continues to become a more consistent perimeter shooter that will elevate his game!

[player_tooltip player_id="968152" first="Keshaume" last="Thigh"] (2022) |6-4 G| Lower Brule – Just went about his business as normal…never played to high or to low. On top of being 6’4, he is very long and would go up and get rebounds that you think he had no chance. Very capable shooter which sets up his ability to put the ball on the floor and attack.

[player_tooltip player_id="812195" first="Coy" last="Determan"] (2022) |6-2 G| Gregory – was injured all year….tore his ACL during the winter but is on track to be back this winter and will be ready to go! He is motivated more than ever to play and help Gregory have a great year!
