Reed averaged 14.9 PPG, 6 rebounds with 3 assists to go along with it during his Junior campaign. The Red Dragons saw their season come to an end against Hurricane in the sectional championship after being up 9 with under a minute to go. Saint Albans will be welcoming a new head coach within the near future. Reed will undoubtedly be the leader and the focal point for the Red Dragons this upcoming season. Reed is a pure shooter that prefers to come off screens with his quick release and knock down ability. He was measured in with a wingspan of 7’0! With his size, he can create his own shot when need be, but prefers the game to come to him. Drew has been working more on getting to the rack and finishing strong all summer long as can be seen during his recent AAU events. It’s safe to say that the Red Dragons will go as far as Reed can take them. He’ll easily average over 20 points per game and he’s as efficient as they come. Saint Albans brings back only one other Senior in NuNu Claytor and will be expecting contributions from Junior, Cooper Lane-Strugrill. After Coach Bryan England announced he wouldn’t be coming back to coach the Dragons, a lot of uncertainty has been in the air. Last years starting point guard McDaniels doesn’t look as if he’s coming back; but a lot could change with the next head coach to be named in the foreseeable future.
So it’s more than safe to say that the Red Dragons will be carried on the shoulders of Reed. Hoping for contributions from others along the way. He should garner a first team all state selection come seasons end. At 17 years of age it’s likely he’ll grow a few more inches as well which would put him at 6’6-6’7. He may be flying under the radar going into his senior year but by the end of it he’ll be one of the best basketball players in the state of West Virginia during the 2021-2022 season.
