The Prep Hoops 2K21 had some of the top teams from across the country, and one of them in attendance were the Middlesex Magic, one of the top programs in New England and one of the top independent programs in the country. Here’s a look at five guys from the Middlesex Magic 17U and 16U teams that really stood out over the weekend.
Dom Campbell Dom Campbell 6'8" | PF Exeter Academy | 2022 State #148 Nation New E | 6’9” C | Middlesex Magic ’22
Campbell committed to Notre Dame just before the event and he showed why he’s an absolute perfect fit for the Irish moving forward. He looks like many of the very successful bigs they’ve had in the past with his size, and his game is perfect for it as he is mobile and can run the floor but also has a great inside-out skill set. He can score in the paint with both hands, he can step out and stretch the floor and is a good passer and he’s physical in the paint and owns the glass on both ends.
Josh Morisette | 6’4” WG | Middlesex Magic ’22
Morisette, who is committed to Wofford, is the exact type of player you will have come to expect from a Middlesex program that produces high IQ players and knock down shooters regularly. He’s a perfect fit for Wofford with his size and ability to shoot it at a high clip from deep, he makes winning and hustle plays on both ends and very rarely makes mistakes. He plays with great energy and was extremely consistent throughout the weekend.
Brady Cummins Brady Cummins 6'6" | SG Brooks School | 2022 State New E | 6’5” WG | Middlesex Magic ’22
Cummins is another knock down shooter for Middlesex who had a big weekend and showed why he’s becoming one of the most recruited wings in the New England area. He has good size on the wing with a quick release and deep range, he’s a good defender on both ends of the floor and he plays with a great motor and energy every time he’s on the floor. He thrives in transition as well as he can play well above the rim and can handle and make plays in transition as well.
Gavin Carter Gavin Carter 6'0" | PG Milton Academy (MA) | 2023 State New E | 6’0” PG | Middlesex Magic ’23
Carter was one of my favorite guards that I watched during the event, as he is a true floor general that makes great reads and is highly skilled on the basketball. He is a crafty ball handler that is shifty off the bounce, he can create space and make shots from multiple levels and he has good feel and playmaking ability too. He’s a natural leader who brings it on both ends and plays with a competitive chip you have to love.
Roland Castineyra | 6’3” CG | Middlesex Magic ’23
Castineyra was on fire in the games I watched for the Middlesex 16U group, and he showed consistent shot making ability and the ability to play on the ball as well. In a game they were trailing by close to 20, Castineyra got hot and rang off about 5 three-pointers in a matter of a few minutes and they were right back into it. He has deep range and great form from the feet up, he changes speeds well off the bounce and he has a good feel for the game too.
