I was able to attend the event on the final day July 3, and focused on the local SoCal talent. Here’s a look at a few more of the top standouts I saw from the final day.
1. TJ Muhammad TJ Muhammad 5'7" | PG Crossroads | 2021 State CA-S – Middlebrooks 2022
Muhammad has consistently been one of the more underrated point guards in SoCal the last couple of years. He’s a leader with a winning mentality. He’s an absolute dog on the court, making the little hustle plays and dives after balls that don’t show up in stats. He’s strong and can get the rim and get to the free-throw line. Good playmaker with a good drive and kick game. Runs the offense well and looks for his teammates. College level player.
2. Kris Krause – Bishop Montgomery 2022
Krause was one of the better shooters that I saw. He’s a knockdown shooter from three-point range when he gets himself open. He likes the corner three but can shoot from anywhere on the arc consistently. With the ball in his hands, he can pull-up from three while in transition. As a shooter, what really stood out to me was his ability to move off the ball. He floats out to the perimeter and gets himself set and he made some strong cuts to the rim.
3. Adam Hinton – Exeter 2022
Hinton will be making the trek across the country to New Hampshire next season but he spent his early years playing at Harvard-Westlake. He’s always been a good shooter but the rest of his offensive game has come around as well. In terms of shooting, he’s a good catch and shoot guy with a smooth release on his shot. He can put the ball on the floor now and finish strong at the rim. He’s a good finisher in transition too and handles the ball on the break.
4. JC Anthony JC Anthony 6'11" | C Paraclete | 2020 State CA-S – Golden State Prep 2021
Anthony was at Paraclete HS but will be playing at Golden State Prep next season. He’s very active in the paint, a rim-running big. He knows how to get position and his teammates look for him around the rim. He’s long and mobile and he moves well without the ball making strong dives to the rim. He’s got good hands and he’s a good finisher, especially off of lobs. Defensively, he’s an anchor and rim protector.
