After almost two full years, we finally were able to have an AAU live period with division one college coaches in attendance, the first one happened this past weekend with a four day live period ranging from July 7-11. I made the trip to Birmingham, AL where there were a number of events I attended including the Adidas 3SSB Session One and the Prep Hoops Circuit "The Platform."

With so many talented players in one area for coaches to see, it will be tons of content coming out with standouts from both events.

Here’s a look at part one of the guys that stood out to me at The Platform, looking at players from Georgia and Florida.

Rob Cowherd | 6’5” WG | GA Stars 17U ‘22

Cowherd was one of the top shooters in an event that had plenty of guys who could knock it down, and he showed that when he gets set he’s pretty much money from deep. He’s a prospect who stays shot ready and has deep range and quick release, and he’s extremely confident in his ability to knock it down. He can fill it up in bunches as he went on multiple runs on his own as well.

Dillon Hunter | 6’3” PG | GA Stars 17U ‘22

Hunter is a smooth lead guard who is heading to Baylor next year, and he brings a lot to the table for the Bears as a dual threat guard who can both score it and make others better as well. He plays with good pace and can change speeds, he can get in the lane at will and he’s excellent at creating space and making shots from multiple levels. He’s a table setter and natural leader and very talented off the bounce.

[player_tooltip player_id="1047091" first="Kasheem" last="Grady"] | 6’5” WG | GA Stars 17U ‘22

Grady is another big time shooter for this Stars group that seems to be relatively unknown by coaches but could pick some stuff up moving forward if he continues to play like this in live period events. He’s long and lanky on the wing and has a good release, he’s consistent from deep and he’s also quick off the bounce when attacking closeouts. He’s guy coaches should keep an eye on moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="709228" first="Carl" last="Cherenfant"] | 6’5” WG | GA Stars 16U ’23

Cherenfant has emerged on the scene as one of the top players in Florida in the 2023 class after a terrific spring and showing at some national camps, and he showed why in the game I watched them play. At 6’5”, he’s not only physically and athletically gifted at such a young age, he’s also one of the toughest kids and high motor kids I saw all weekend. He brings great energy on both ends of the floor; he makes plays above the rim whether it’s catching lobs, blocking shots or rebounding in traffic; he’s skilled and strong off the bounce and he still has tons of room to get better as well.

Coen Carr | 6’4” WF | GA Stars 16U ’23

It didn’t take long for Carr to catch my eyes as the 6’4” wing had multiple huge throw downs and alley-oops to start the game which directed a lot of attention that way. The 6’4” wing has a great frame and as explosive as anyone I saw this weekend, he can guard multiple positions and was great in the press and he showed a quick release and good form from deep. He’s a high ceiling guy who should only continue to improve moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="948818" first="Lamariyon" last="Jordan"] | 6’5” WG | GA Stars 16U ’23

Jordan has to be one of the more underrated guys in the 2023 class, as he checks all of the boxes both physically and with his game already to be getting recruited at the high major level. He has a good frame and is athletic enough to play above the rim when he gets downhill, he has a good handle and can create space and then he’s also a three level scorer that makes shots from all over. He plays the game with good energy on both ends and is set to have a breakout junior season for sure.

[player_tooltip player_id="829444" first="Jah" last="Quinones"] | 6’3” PG | Judah Nation 17U ‘22

Quinones was impressive for a talented Judah Nation group that played some very good teams tough, and he was the leader both vocally and by his actions. He’s a big guard that plays with good pace and is surprisingly quick, he can get downhill and finish through traffic on both ends and he is a good playmaker as well. He plays with a chip and makes winning plays on both ends and didn’t take many plays off.

[player_tooltip player_id="1065445" first="Clarens" last="Pierre"] | 6’8” C | Judah Nation 17U ‘22

Pierre is an intriguing big man prospect that has a lot of upside and could be a steal in a few years, and he already has the athleticism and motor now that can’t be taught. He plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor, he showed that he can both protect the rim and move his feet to switch and guard wings and he finished in the paint above the rim with consistency. He’s a good rebounder and looked to be a blue collar kind of kid, which plenty of coaches love.
