Happy Fourth of July everyone! Today we are going to look at some of the "fireworks" in the class of 2022 as we approach the first live weekend of the summer. These players fit different molds we will cover and bring a spark with their games in different ways.

The Firecrackers: Instant Sparks to the Offensive Side of the Floor

[player_tooltip player_id="1076405" first="Howard" last="Johnson"], 6’1 Guard, Junction City, SSA Elite 2022 Black: Can get going in a hurry on the offensive end of the floor and can score points in bunches, especially from behind the arc. A spark plug scoring the ball and is a big time shot maker.

[player_tooltip player_id="891925" first="Adriel" last="Smith"], 5’11 Guard, Rose Hill: A guard who packs a lot of punch in his frame and is another burst of instant offense. Gets downhill with the ball, crafty with the dribble, and puts up big time flares of offensive output.

[player_tooltip player_id="891909" first="Christian" last="Bowen-Webb"], 6’2 Guard, Bishop Miege: When Bowen-Webb gets hot from the floor he is really tough to contain. Shoots and hits a ton of contested shots and can bring a pop to any teams offense when on the basketball floor. Great lift on the jump shot and a smooth, quick trigger gets him going in a hurry.

The Roman Candles: The deep ball shooters to watch

[player_tooltip player_id="952433" first="Jordan" last="Brown"], 6’3 Shooting Guard, Free State, YOBO: Big time shooter and shot maker and has extremely deep range both off the catch and off the dribble. One of the leading three point shot makers in the Kansas City area and can drop a barrage of them in single games.

[player_tooltip player_id="1075924" first="Jack" last="Ratigan"], 6’6 Forward, Blue Valley West, Team KC: The long and big bodied versatile forward is a tremendous three point shooter and a stretch player that will catch a ton of eyes this summer with his ability to knock down threes in a variety of ways and force teams to have to have bigger guys come out from the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="891902" first="Julian" last="Margrave"], 6’9 Forward/Wing, Louisburg, Run GMC: A very unique prospect with his length and smooth shooting stroke both stationary and off the move. Can play and shoot from a variety of positions and area on the floor and is really tough to contest. Knocks down the long ball at a tremendous clip.

The Bottle Rockets: Quick Guards that play with great pace

[player_tooltip player_id="891904" first="Damare" last="Smith"], 5’11 Point Guard, Shawnee Mission Northwest, Run GMC: Tremendous handles with the basketball and has a great change of pace. Controls tempo and is tough to guard in both the half court and transition games. Has a tremendous first step off the bounce and gets defenders on his hips.

[player_tooltip player_id="891910" first="Trevor" last="McBride"], 6’2 Point Guard, Basehor Linwood, SSA Elite 2022 Black: A very quick guard who plays with a ton of pace and energy on both ends of the floor. Can be a blur in transition and gets up the floor fast with the ball or runs lanes fast. Quick on the defensive end and recovers if beaten off the bounce quickly.

[player_tooltip player_id="891905" first="Xavier" last="Hall"], 5’11 Point Guard, Bishop Miege, Marcus Denmon Elite (Pictured): Was a terror with the ball on the offensive end all spring using his quickness to get down hill and live in opponents painted area making plays for himself or others. Great energy on both ends of the floor as well.

The Fountains: Impact games in a wide array of ways

[player_tooltip player_id="891912" first="Nahcs" last="Wahwassuck"], 6’5 Combo Guard, Link Year, SSA Elite 2022 Black: Transitioned and played a ton of point guard in the spring and then had a really big June with Link year playing as a two guard and wing player. His length, vision, ball handling, shooting, and versatility on the defensive end allow for Wahwassuck to impact the game in multiple ways.

[player_tooltip player_id="1131273" first="Kernan" last="Bundy"], 6’3 Guard, Blue Valley North, YOBO: A defensive savant on the ball, a big time shooter, and is a big time athlete. Bundy has the ability to be a game changer in whatever is asked of him. Consistently becoming more of a stat sheet stuffer with the more game time he plays.

[player_tooltip player_id="946254" first="Kyle" last="Grill"], 6’6 Point Guard, Maize, Mid Kansas: Grill has tremendous length and athletic ability with a high basketball IQ. His length allows him to be extremely versatile on both ends of the floor. Gifted passer of the basketball and really good vision makes him a great multi tooled weapon on the floor.
