Michigan 2022’s That Impressed At PH Circuit Summer Challenge

<p>The Prep Hoops Circuit is back in full gear. The Summer Challenge has not disappointed so far as players from all areas and all divisions have been displaying a high level of basketball. We’ll dive a little deeper and look specifically at 5 Michigan players in the 17u division that have been very impressive so far at the Summer Challenge.</p> <p><strong>Kareem Aburashed (2022, F, M&amp;M Boyz, Detroit Country Day)</strong></p> <p>Aburashed didn’t blow up the stat sheet, that was Elevation Prep’s <strong>Tariq Humes</strong>, but his influence on the game is very apparent. He really seems essential to the ultimate success of the team. Aburashed doesn’t need to be shot heavy to score which allows him to play efficient basketball. He also adds height and rebounding.</p> <p><strong>Abedalrahman Abuzahrah (2022, G/F, HYPE Athletics 2022, Dearborn)</strong></p> <p>Abuzahrah has been really impressive so far. He has utilized a very strong shot fake. He has used it to attack the rim and finish with a floater close to the basket as well as using the shot fake to get to the free throw line and bury a mid range jumper. Abuzahrah really sells the fake and he could have an offensive weapon on his hands.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1211160" first="Aiden" last="Burns"] (2022, SG, United Persuit 2022, Pennfield)</strong></p> <p>Burns has been one of the most prolific 3 point shooters at the event so far. He’s shown range that extends well beyond the arc and has buried triples with a hand in his face. Burns has consistently caught passes shot ready and fired them off with confidence. He even used a pass fake that sent a defender scrambling and gave him an open look at a 3.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="983494" first="Joe" last="Francis"] (2022, SG, M&amp;M Boyz, Adrian)</strong></p> <p>The M&amp;M Boyz have looked very good so far and Francis is a big part of that. The silky smooth athlete seems to be able to manufacture looks at the rim whenever he needs to. I get the feeling that he’s going to go off offensively, sooner rather than later.</p> <p><strong>Tyler VanEtten (2022, CG, MSF Flight 2022, Lenawee Christian)</strong></p> <p>VanEtten really impressed me in transition. He can play fast, get down the floor quickly, and fill the wing on the right for a finish. VanEtten has worked well with both hands off the dribble and has shown shiftiness and touch in the lane. He’s also shown 3 point range on his jumper. VanEtten could be a player to keep an eye on through July.</p>
