It was a great weekend of hoops this past weekend as division one college coaches had their first "live period" in almost 2 years, allowing them to get in the gym and evaluate prospects in person finally. There were two events in the DC area, with the main private school one being DMV Live at DeMatha.

I was there live streaming the event for the CBG Live Network, and you can see all of the games archived here.

There was tons of talent in the gym, so much that I’ll have to break the standouts down into multiple parts per class! Here’s a look at part three of the top 2022 prospects, focusing on the standouts from the Virginia schools.

[player_tooltip player_id="815578" first="Knasir" last="McDaniel"] | 5’9” PG | Paul VI

McDaniel is a new position after being the underclassman with other high majors on his team, he’s now the only senior on a PVI starting lineup that featured two rising sophomores and two rising freshmen this weekend, but he seemed to step into the leader role nicely and was encouraging his teammates throughout the process. He’s a tone setter on both ends of the floor that can guard the length of the floor, he can

[player_tooltip player_id="897404" first="Paul" last="Lewis"] | 6’1” PG | Bishop O’Connell
[caption id="attachment_1222921" align="alignnone" width="200"] Photo: @megelee64[/caption]
Lewis, who recommitted from Maryland at the beginning of the event, played in the DMV Live on Friday and in the VA Live Shootout Saturday and Sunday, and the way that he played I wouldn’t be surprised to see tons of coaches flocking to the newly available point guard. He’s a highly skilled scorer off the bounce that is excellent at changing speeds and creating space, he has a competitive chip about him and he brings it against the best every time.

[player_tooltip player_id="815607" first="Cavan" last="Reilly"] | 6’3” WG | Bishop O’Connell

Reilly showed why many high academic division one schools are recruiting him, as the Bishop O’Connell wing showed his ability to shoot it from deep with consistency and his blue collar mentality as well. He hustles hard on both ends and will fight for 50-50 balls, he has good instincts and feel on both ends and he can flat out knock it down from deep with range and consistency when he gets it going.

[player_tooltip player_id="962815" first="Charlie" last="Jackson"] | 6’5” WF | Episcopal

Jackson poured in one of the top performances I saw all weekend in the first game Sunday, going for 27 points and 24 rebounds in a win over St. Mary’s-Annanopolis. The 6’5” wing plays with a great motor as he attacks the glass and rebounds on both ends of the floor, he’s skilled and crafty off the bounce when he gets in the lane and gets to the free throw line often and he can knock down shots from deep as well.

John Louglin | 6’0” CG | Episcopal

Loughlin had a good showing in Episcopal’s win over St. Mary’s as well, showing that he’s improved in his ability to play on the basketball and run the show to go along with his ability to shoot it. He played with good pace and changed speeds well, he made good decisions in transition and he still has that ratchet from behind the arc.

[player_tooltip player_id="902006" first="Devin" last="Ceaser"] | 6’1” CG | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes
[caption id="attachment_1222925" align="alignnone" width="200"] Photo: @megelee64[/caption]
Ceaser put up big numbers on a consistent basis for SSSAS who played against very good competition, and he also showed his all-out style and freakish athleticism as well. When I say all-out I mean he flies to the ball defensively and comes at you offensively on every possession, he plays with a lot of toughness and never loses his confidence and he’s always there to make a play when his team needs it the most.

[player_tooltip player_id="1107823" first="Miles" last="Webb"] | 6’7” PF | St Stephen’s St. Agnes
[caption id="attachment_1222930" align="alignnone" width="200"] Photo: @megelee64[/caption]
Webb impressed a number of college coaches I spoke with as they say that he has improved a good amount over the past few years and I can concur as he gets better every time I watch him. He played with great confidence showing his versatility as he played at and above the rim, he guarded multiple positions and competed on both ends and he showed he can make shots from deep with consistency.

[player_tooltip player_id="1221450" first="Garrett" last="Brennan"] | 6’3” WG | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes
[caption id="attachment_1222933" align="alignnone" width="200"] Photo: @megelee64[/caption]
Brennan was the x-factor for the SSSAS group this past weekend, and showed why he is getting recruited by high academic schools at all three levels. Brennan is a natural leader with his toughness and he competes on both ends playing through some nasty falls in all the games, he can handle it and play on the ball and he can shoot it from deep and he’s a smart player on both ends of the floor.

Elliot Black | 6’6” PF | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes

Black was arguably the most consistent of the group, as he didn’t quite have the single game output the others did but he averaged close to a double-double this past weekend. A strong and athletic mismatch four, he may not be the tallest guy at his position but he’s able to muscle his way to the rim, he’s an athletic finisher above the rim and he can step out and either shoot the midrange or face up and rip by defenders as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="962785" first="Justin" last="Taylor"] | 6’5” WG | St. Anne’s Belfield

Taylor recently cut his list to his top 5 schools which are UNC, Syracuse, Indiana, Virginia Tech and UVA, and he showed this weekend why one of these schools will be very happy to have him over the next few years. The 6’5” wing has an all-around skill set that impact the game in many ways as he can score it in a number of ways, he’s an underrated defender and rebounder and he’s a fluid athlete that makes plays at the rim as well.
