We will be spending the next week or so breaking down our updated VA class of 2022 rankings. We continue by looking at the top power forwards and centers in the rankings, ranking number 25-16! Be sure to stay tuned to Prep Hoops VA for even more rankings content moving forward.

You can see the entire class of 2022 rankings here!

#25 [player_tooltip player_id="798747" first="Peter" last="Oduro"] | 6’7” | VA Academy (#83 Overall)

Oduro is a high ceiling big man that has good versatility and can do a lot of things on both ends of the floor. He’s mobile and runs the floor hard, he can step out and shoot it or put it on the deck and get by slower big men and he plays with a good motor on both ends of the floor as well.

#24 Amari Baylor | 6’4” | Varina (#82 Overall)

Baylor, who’s a two sport athlete that stands out on the football field as well, isn’t the tallest guy but his mix of strength, skill and high motor makes him very difficult to guard and makes him very productive as well. He’s a brute in the paint that can overpower guys with his strength, he plays with great energy and intensity and he’s great both in the paint and in that mid post area where he can shoot the midrange and face up and rip and go by guys as well.

#23 [player_tooltip player_id="962797" first="Henry" last="Sullivan"] | 6’8” | Western Albemarle (#74 Overall)

Sullivan is part of a Western Albemarle program that has produced quite a few big men that have played in college, and he’s going to be another one as he’s already seeing schools reach out to him with more to come. Playing for a good program that made him compete at a young age, Sullivan developed good toughness in the paint, he has good timing as a shot blocker and he has good touch in the paint and out to 15 feet as well.

#22 [player_tooltip player_id="1107845" first="Dallas" last="Kendall"] | 6’7” | Menchville (#67 Overall)

Kendall is likely going to take a post grad year and in the 2023 class he’s going to be very intriguing moving forward when he puts on weight and continues to develop. At 6’7” he’s long and a fluid athlete, he can play on the perimeter where he can make shots from deep and play out of the triple threat and as he gets stronger he should be able to be more productive in both ends in the paint.

#21 [player_tooltip player_id="1107843" first="Cade" last="McCullough"] | 6’7” | West Point (#64 Overall)

McCullough is one of the state’s better known big men and has been a big part in the turn around for a West Point program that could be a favorite in Class 2 next season. The 6’7” big man is highly skilled on the perimeter as he can dribble, shoot and pass, he can rebound and start the break and he can score it from multiple levels with ease.

#20 [player_tooltip player_id="1107840" first="Reis" last="Jones"] | 6’6” | Flint Hill (#61 Overall)

Jones is the type of blue collar big man that college coaches are going to love when they get the chance to see him because he doesn’t even need to score to impact the game in a lot of different ways. Jones has really long arms and always keeps them up to get deflections and challenge shots, he’s mobile and can run the floor and he’s always making hustle plays to help his team win.

#19 [player_tooltip player_id="1107839" first="Reiss" last="Whitaker"] | 6’7” | Highland School (#58 Overall)

Whitaker is a possible stock riser this summer when coaches get to see his versatility on the offensive end, as he can play multiple positions and be a mismatch at those positions as well. He’s highly skilled as a shot maker that can hit shots from multiple levels, he can get hot quickly and ring off multiple three-pointers in a row and he has good size to bang in the paint as well.

#18 [player_tooltip player_id="962798" first="Zach" last="Bolgert"] | 6’6” | Fairfax Christian (#57 Overall)

Bolgert is another stretch big man that is a part of an upstart Fairfax Christian team that played really well by all accounts this weekend in the VA Live Period Shootout. Bolgert is an inside-out threat that can stretch the floor but can also score over the shoulder, he has good footwork and counters and he’s an excellent passer as well.

#17 [player_tooltip player_id="1107836" first="Roman" last="Barshow"] | 6’7” | Steward School (#54 Overall)

Barshow is someone coaches are going to be very intrigued by as he is a multi positional player that is surprisingly athletic and can play above the rim and he’s an excellent shooter on the perimeter as well. He can switch and guard the 3-5, he can put it on the deck and be a secondary ball handler and he can fill it up in bunches when he gets it going.

#16 James Bell III | 6’7” | Collegiate (#46 Overall)

Bell is an underrated player who high academics should really consider with his mix of size, skill and high motor that he plays with. He’s a hard worker who will bang in the paint and rebounds at a productive rate, he has good touch both in the lane and out to the three-point line and he has a blue collar attitude on both ends of the floor.
