Adam’s Top-10 Unheralded Stars from the First Live Period

<p>DMV Live and DC Live did not disappoint. Here are my top-10 unheralded stars from the two events. </p> <p class="p1"><strong>#10 | Chali Taylor | Sidwell Friends (DC) ’23</strong></p> <p>Taylor is a good glue guy who played consistent minutes over the weekend. He has some defensive potential. Taylor anticpates well. He also made a nice shot fake to draw a foul when he caught a dump-off pass.</p> <p class="p1"><strong>#9 | Lucas Sekasi | Woodrow Wilson (DC) ’24</strong></p> <p>Sekasi is an interesting long-term prospect who provides floor spacing. He made multiple threes over the course of the weekend.</p> <p class="p1"><strong>#8 | Rashad Perry | McKinley Tech (DC) ’22</strong></p> <p class="p1">Perry is a lefty guard who applies relentless pressure on the ball and is very vigilant defensively. He is skilled with the ball on offense. Perry plays with a good pace and keeps the ball on a string. He uses pump fakes well.</p> <p class="p1"><strong>#7 | Jaren Curtis | Bishop McNamara (MD) ’25</strong></p> <p>Curtis is an interesting long-term prospect who impressed on Saturday. He is a crafty finisher who rebounds his position. </p> <p class="p1"><strong>#6 | Dominique Bailey | John Marshall (VA) ’24</strong></p> <p class="p1">Bailey is establishing himself as one of the more feared perimeter defenders in Virginia. He guards anybody. Bailey strikes fear into the opposing ball-handler. He’s simply annoying to play against. Bailey is also a good athlete who is strong, tough, and can accelerate quickly.</p> <p class="p1"><strong>#5 | [player_tooltip player_id="1225256" first="Nate" last="Guerengomba"] | St. John’s (DC) ’24</strong></p> <p>Guerengomba helped secure his team’s first win of the weekend with a block at the end of overtime. He suffered an injury on Saturday, and the team clearly missed his presence.</p> <p class="p1"><strong>#4 | [player_tooltip player_id="1222372" first="Garrison" last="Kisner"] | University (WV) ’23</strong></p> <p>Kisner is a tall, lanky young man who is very athletic. He is a lob threat who tries to dunk on people. But he also rebounds, plays hard, and is fundamentally sound. </p> <p class="p1"><strong>#3 | [player_tooltip player_id="999617" first="Carter" last="Lang"] | St. Anne’s Belfield (VA) ’23</strong></p> <p>Lang quietly dominated for STAB over the weekend. He averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds per game while shooting 62% from the field and 43% from behind the arc. Lang is well conditioned and very strong with broad shoulders to go along with some of the best hands you’ll see. He is a lefty who can be tricky to play against because he will the floor all day long and score inside or out. </p> <p class="p1"><strong>#2 | [player_tooltip player_id="977594" first="Blake" last="Barkley"] | University (WV) ’22</strong></p> <p>Barkley is a rangy, versatile player. He is aggressive on the glass and plays with a non-stop motor. Barkley has a diverse skill base. He plays above the rim and is an athletic finisher.</p> <p class="p1"><strong>#1 | [player_tooltip player_id="954640" first="Jordan" last="Pennick"] | Archbishop Spalding (MD) ’22</strong></p> <p class="p1">Pennick’s great defense was a critical element to his team’s success. He is excellent at denying the ball by getting low, using his center of gravity and quickness to get around for a steal.</p>
