Small School Senior Bigs in the Rankings

<p>Small school ballers tend to make a name for themselves a little earlier than their big city counterparts. But then they demonstrate their comparative skill level in summer battles with the top players in Kansas and around the country.</p> <p>Here are Kansas’ top five small school senior bigs (1A-3A, in order of rank):</p> <p>61 [player_tooltip player_id="1139918" first="Charlie" last="Russell"], 6-foot-4 power forward, Wakeeney-Trego:</p> <p>Russell is a hard-working forward who turns in great effort on the glass and at the defensive end. The 2A star averaged 15.5 points and 6.3 rebounds for the Golden Eagles. His versatility showed up in his 2.9 assists and 2.4 steals per game. Battling for the Western Kansas Elite, he demonstrates that he can produce against high-level competition.</p> <p>63 [player_tooltip player_id="1195604" first="Jordan" last="Fudge"], 6-foot-8 power forward, Frontenac (pictured jumping, in orange and blue uniform):</p> <p>Fudge has the physical tools to get a lot of attention. He put together some really impressive stats – 17.8 points and 11.7 boards – to earn third-team 3A last year. But his rare height/power/agility combination is what catches your eye. He is a big man who can dominate most high school posts, can leap for rebounds, and can move with grace up and down the floor. Fudge is honing his game with Victory Ministry this summer and should take another leap next season at Frontenac.</p> <p>68 [player_tooltip player_id="1076401" first="Koen" last="Hula"], 6-foot-4 power forward, Council Grove:</p> <p>Hula is an agile big man with a ton of power and some skilled moves with the ball. He scored 12.8 points and grabbed 8.3 boards as a junior, but watch for even more production next year when Council Grove is a year older and more experienced. Hula is a team leader who is experienced against top competition on the club circuit.</p> <p>69 [player_tooltip player_id="1076402" first="Dalton" last="Schrag"], 6-foot-5 power forward, Haven:</p> <p>Schrag is a long, lean forward who runs the court and moves without the ball. His production in his first year at Haven helped the Wildcats to a really solid season. Schrag averaged about 14 points and 7 rebounds after coming over from Pretty Prairie, where he was honorable mention 1A as a sophomore. He has a solid jumper in the midrange and uses his size well.</p> <p>72 [player_tooltip player_id="1076404" first="Brayden" last="Schilling"], 6-foot-5 small forward, Hesston:</p> <p>Schilling earned honorable mention 3A for helping lead the Swathers to the state title. He scored 9 points in the championship game and grabbed 7 boards. Schilling is a multi-sport star who can really get up and put down some impressive dunks. Schilling has agility and runs the floor well, leading to some breakaway points.</p>
