<p>Prep Hoops Missouri was at Francis Howell Central on Saturday to watch the first day of the Missouri Basketball Showcase. It was put on by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association and Missouri State High School Activities Association.</p> <p>For the next week, I will providing short evals on all of the players at the event as they are grouped with their teams. Here is a look at the players from Team 1.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/2BC5EBB4-9547-4774-B69E-0CF4CAE456CD.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1219695" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/2BC5EBB4-9547-4774-B69E-0CF4CAE456CD-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p>Larry Hughes Jr 6’5 CBC: The 2022 shooting guard was one of the most impressive players I watched on Saturday. He was getting buckets at all three levels and doing it with confidence. He was knocking down deep shots coming off screens and on pull ups in transition while also attacking off the dribble.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/48819F09-AFEC-49A5-91A0-DF90B362B0B9.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1219699" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/48819F09-AFEC-49A5-91A0-DF90B362B0B9-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><br /> [player_tooltip player_id="824125" first="Aahmod" last="Scarbrough"] 6’3: The 2022 combo guard had a very impressive day on Saturday as he attacked the basket very well and complimented it with very good perimeter shooter. He is strong and athletic with  a high motor, but he also made solid decisions with the ball while playing fast.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/9A63AB3A-1845-44D7-A0AE-032BDDBCB8FA.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1212641" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/9A63AB3A-1845-44D7-A0AE-032BDDBCB8FA-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><br /> [player_tooltip player_id="984504" first="Luke" last="Northweather"] 6’9 Blair Oaks: The big fella was able to put in a lot of work in the low post and he established excellent position and scored on jump hooks and used either hand around the basket effectively. He closed out the evening game by scoring the last nine points by knocking down a 3-pointer, and scored on a couple of And 1 buckets in the low post in a close victory.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/FA2E8F25-665F-4C6E-A407-4F51571E88BD.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1219705" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/FA2E8F25-665F-4C6E-A407-4F51571E88BD-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><br /> [player_tooltip player_id="1070094" first="Kyan" last="Evans"] 6’1 Staley: The 2023 point guard is a stellar floor leader with a high basketball IQ who showcased his court vision and ability to orchestrate things with the basketball. He was finding his teammates and dropping dimes to them in their comfort areas. When it was time to go get a bucket, he was fully capable of scoring off of dribble penetration or the 3-pointer. In the opening game, he hit a game-tying 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/95F47B34-5221-4045-96DE-F600B9AAEBFA.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1219706" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/95F47B34-5221-4045-96DE-F600B9AAEBFA-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="985422" first="Elijah" last="Whitley"] 6’2 Parkview: The 2022 guard is one of the most physical guards at the event and he used that strength to his advantage along with some explosive athleticism. He is also a dynamic shooter from 3-point range who will also attack the rim and dunk on people. He was also tough to keep off the offensive boards as he scored on several putbacks.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/05/Tre-Bell.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1188124" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/05/Tre-Bell-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p>Tre’ Bell 6’3 Parkway West: This 2022 shooting guard didn't come into the event with a lot of hype, but he enjoyed a very productive day. He was the quiet man who was getting buckets and playing excellent defense without a lot of fanfare. He was hitting open shots off the catch and getting out in transition to score. He has enjoyed an excellent spring grassroots season and that success has continued.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/9671BB38-45D3-486E-88F4-869101549003.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1219710" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/9671BB38-45D3-486E-88F4-869101549003-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><br /> Holden Souter 6’6 Whitfield: The 2024 lefty did a nice job inside and he displayed good footwork and a nice touch around the basket. He got a chance to handle the ball and he made some solid decisions with his passing while also scoring on aggressive drives to the basket. He showed good moxie as he moved well without the ball and was able to have an impact when he didn't have the ball.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/A4CBB19F-A243-4ABE-8A6B-B8878783EA30.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1219712" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/06/A4CBB19F-A243-4ABE-8A6B-B8878783EA30-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><br /> Alex Gunnels 5’10 Ewing Kauffman: A 2024 point guard who displayed good quickness and speed in the open court. His pace is good and he played under control without trying to force things. He was able to make open 3-pointers in transition. He played solid as one of the younger players at the event.</p>
