This past Monday, the rankings for the class of 2023 were released. While there was no change in positions one through six, there was a shakeup in the bottom four. We will review the top ten, new additions, and other things as we overview the class of rising juniors in Louisiana.</p> <p><strong>The Top Ten</strong></p> <ol> <li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970120" first="Chris" last="Lockett"] (6’5" / CG / Newman)</strong></li> <li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1055170" first="John" last="Kelly"] (6’7" / SF / Crescent City / LivOn Fleue-de-Lis)</strong></li> <li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970111" first="Jamaria" last="Clark"] (6’2" / CG / Doyline / New Orleans Elite)</strong></li> <li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970133" first="Tyler" last="Ringgold"] (6’7" / SF / Southern Lab / LivOn Fleue-de-Lis)</strong></li> <li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1130799" first="Brandon" last="Rodgers"] (6’4" / SG / Zachary / LivOn Fleue-de-Lis)</strong></li> <li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1055172" first="Corey" last="Chest"] (6’5" / SF / McMain / LivOn Fleue-de-Lis)</strong></li> <li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1213569" first="Jakobe" last="Dykes"] (6’5" / SG / Springfield / Showtime Elite)</strong></li> <li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1130920" first="Canin" last="Jefferson"] (6’0" / PG / Newman / LivOn Fleue-de-Lis)</strong></li> <li><strong>Warren Young Jr. (6’1" / CG / Walker / LivOn Fleue-de-Lis)</strong></li> <li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1055169" first="Kam" last="Johnson"] (5’10" / PG / AB Shaw / LivOn Fleue-de-Lis)</strong></li> </ol> <p>This class is super-talented just like the class of 2022 and the top ten exemplfies that.  <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970120" first="Chris" last="Lockett"]</strong>, the #1 player, almost led Newman to a state championship only to be thrwarted by an otherwordly performance by <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="530995" first="Carlos" last="Stewart"].  [player_tooltip player_id="1055170" first="John" last="Kelly"] (#2) and [player_tooltip player_id="1130799" first="Brandon" last="Rodgers"] (#5) </strong>were integral parts of their respective teams hoisting state championships.  McMain forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1055172" first="Corey" last="Chest"] (#6)</strong> probably had the most storybooking ending of them all with two free throws with 0.4 to help McMain win the 4A crown.  <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970111" first="Jamaria" last="Clark"] (#3) </strong>of Doyline put up 30 plus a game before being defeated and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970133" first="Tyler" last="Ringgold"] </strong>helped Southern Lab to a top three seed in their Division before being removed from the playoffs due to an administrative error.  Guards <strong>Warren Young Jr. (#9)</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1055169" first="Kam" last="Johnson"] (#10) </strong>are the remaining members of the top 10 (just in new spots. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1213569" first="Jakobe" last="Dykes"]</strong> has been very impressive on the Prep Hoops Circuit as a three level scorer and a top level defender. <strong> [player_tooltip player_id="1130920" first="Canin" last="Jefferson"]</strong> has impressed at every stop during the grassroots season and is now the top point guard in the class.  Dykes is a newcomer to the rankings but very worthy of his rank and Jefferson has transitioned well from his high school season to travel play.  </p> <p><strong>Stock Risers and Newcomers</strong></p> <p>There were a bevy of stock risers and newcomers in the June rankings for this class.  <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970125" first="Devion" last="Lavergne"]</strong> the North Central rising junior has been impressive since the beginning of the high school season and has become a top 20 player in the this class.  Newcomers<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="1213563" first="Randarius" last="Morris"] (#27)</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1213623" first="Derwin" last="Ancar"] (#35)</strong> played until March with their high school teams and their good play has carried over to their grassroots and summer seasons.  <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1213624" first="Reece" last="Seicshnaydre"] (#33) </strong>had a successful season with St. Paul’s and will appear in the rankings for the first time.  Rounding out the top 40 newcomers is <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1145567" first="Connor" last="Greavis"] (#39).  </strong>His double duty with Showtime Elite on the Prep Hoops Circuit has shown him to be a very good point guard who can score.  </p> <p>All in all, there were 40 new additions to the latest class of 2023 rankings in Louisiana.  Look for these names, and others, as Louisiana continues team camp play until the end of the month of June.  </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->

All in all, there were 40 new additions to the latest class of 2023 rankings in Louisiana.  Look for these names, and others, as Louisiana continues team camp play until the end of the month of June.
