Continue ReadingIn our newest edition of the 2022 class of hoops in Kansas, we have a quite a bit of big time risers up the board who have put together great junior campaigns and 17U spring circuit runs.
*With the addition of a large amount of new players to the rankings, players may have risen spots in total but not in the final order of player rankings*
#16 Zaid Dajani Zaid Dajani 6'4" | CG Olathe Northwest | 2022 State KS , 6’4 SG, Olathe Northwest, SSA Elite 2022 Black (19 spots) (Pictured): Exploding into the top 20 after a massive high school season and Grassoots spring is the shooting guard out of ONW Dajani. Averaging over 18 ppg in the Sunflower League and garnering All League honors, the smooth shooting guard backed it up with a 21 ppg, 5 rbpg, and 2 apg spring session on 46% shooting from 3 and 53% from the field. The scoring guard can get it done with a crazy amount of unique finishes around the rim, a lethal pull up jumper, and knock down catch and shoot player. Dajani has earned a Washburn University offer and a ton of DII, Low Major, and MId Major interest so far.
#23 Brett Sarwinski Brett Sarwinski 5'10" | PG Galena | 2022 State KS , 5’11 PG, Galena (23 spots): The state’s 3A player of the year has to garner a massive jump in our 2022 class rankings. The point guard has all of the qualities of a high level point guard; leadership, shooting, tough handle with the ball, and can guard the other teams lead guard as well. He averaged 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game this season en route to a state title game appearance for Galena. Tough as nails in the back court and has already helped lead his program to a ton of wins, look out for him and Galena next year.
#45 Jevon Hill Jevon Hill 6'7" | PF Trinity Christian | 2022 KS , 6’8 Wing, Wichita Trinity, Midwest Magic (16 spots): The versatile wing/forward from Trinity is a smooth knock down shooter with elite size for the position. He can play in the pick and pop roll and knock down shots, trail into jumpers, and play off screens. As he continues to develop the handle and become stronger he will become an even more tough wing player to contest shots or drives on. Hill has the ability to get hot quickly, knocking down a large amount of shots in a short period of time.
#53 Howard Johnson Howard Johnson 6'0" | SG Junction City | 2022 State KS , 6’1 Guard, Junction City, SSA Elite 2022 Black (18 spots): Johnson deservedly so jumped almost 20 spots in the rankings after piecing together an All Centennial League season that he missed some with injury and came out in the Grassroots season with some of the best 3 point shooting in the Prep Hoops Circuit. During the spring run against top level opponents, he averaged 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists per game while shooting 48% from the 3 point line on 44 attempts. Johnson has also added some nice play making ability with the ball in his hands off the bounce and coming off of screens to his game while consistently being a really solid on ball defender.
#59 Brady Klotz Brady Klotz 6'4" | SF Royal Valley | 2022 State KS , 6’5 Forward, Royal Valley, SSA Elite 2022 Black (38 spots): Possibly ranked too low from the start, Klotz is jumping up 38 spots in this rankings update. He came on strong late in the high school season and had a big time post season while earning All Big 7 honors. Klotz caught a lot of college coaches eyes, especially at the NAIA level this spring, averaging 10 points and 4 rebounds per game on 51% shooting from the field. Klotz continues to extend his range to the 3 point line as well, but showed where his real value is, diving to the rim off of cuts and screens and finishing with combination of power and touch.
