The recruiting cycle for the 2021 class has been anything but normal as their final two seasons were interrupted by COVID. Even with all the changes, that has not stopped prospects from making it to the next level. Roselle Catholic guard [player_tooltip player_id="850511" first="Amar’e" last="Marshall"] is an example of that as he recently committed to Hofstra. The group is still filled with available talent who can make an impact at the next level. Here are the top available guards in the 2021 class.

[player_tooltip player_id="1036729" first="Zakai" last="Zeigler"], 5’9 PG Montclair Immaculate

Zeigler could take a prep year, but he is a part of this list as he has yet to announce his plans for next season. The Second Team All-State performer is a blur in the open floor and is tough to contain off the bounce. Zeigler has a tight handle and is a crafty finisher around the basket. He has extremely quick hands on the defensive end as he can pick pocket almost anyway he defends on the ball. Zeigler is a dynamic lead guard who will help a team get better.

[player_tooltip player_id="850513" first="Jayden" last="Brown"], 6’0 PG Montclair Immaculate

The second straight Lion to kick off this list, Brown had a big senior season, including a 50-point outburst on February 20. The 6’0 guard is a marksman from deep with a good shooting form and an ability to bury triples in bunches. Brown is more than just a shooter as he can also put the ball on the floor and draw contact on his way to the rim. He is an underrated passer and moves his feet well on the defensive end. Brown is a scoring point guard prospect who should get early looks at the next level because of his shooting.

[player_tooltip player_id="900297" first="Tazir" last="Cantey"], 6’0 PG Eastern

Cantey has been a premiere scorer since he started playing varsity, eclipsing 20 points per game in each of the last three seasons. The 6’0 guard has a good handle and is a crafty finisher around the basket. Cantey can make opponents pay for giving him space on the perimeter as he has deep range and a quick release. He is a solid passer and makes plays on the defensive end. Cantey’s scoring ability is something that will help him out when he gets to the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="900329" first="Marcus" last="Pierce"], 6’2 CG St. Joseph Academy

Pierce had a strong final varsity season as he helped lead St. Joseph Academy to a 12-2 record and a ranking within the top 20 for most of the season. The 6’2 guard attacks the basket with a purpose as he is unafraid of finishing through contact and is a good finisher around the rim. Pierce has a good mid-range game and is capable of knocking down jumpers from distance. He is a strong rebounder and makes good decisions with the ball in his hands. Pierce is a gritty, combo guard prospect that does what it takes to win games, which should make him an intriguing prospect for the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="900321" first="Al-Fatir" last="Connor"], 6’0 PG Elizabeth

Connor might be leaning towards the postgrad route, but is a part of this list because he has yet not announced his plans for next season. The Third Team All-State performer has a tight handle as defenders have trouble containing him off the bounce. Connor is a crafty finisher around the basket and is capable of finishing through contact. He plays with great instincts on the defensive end and plays with his head up in the half court. Connor is a two-way floor general who will makes his team better.
