This past weekend we were in Arizona at the Hustle In The Sun Event. Arizona had the largest number of teams participating. New Mexico, and Colorado had good representation also. Although there was a good number of outstanding prospects in the gym. Here’s a group we thought played well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1006964" first="Terrance" last="Dixon"] F/C 6’9 of Desert Vista 2022. Arizona Factory 2022.

Dixon is a big time post player that will likely expand his skill set. In the present, he’s a long square shouldered active post defensive player, who’ll defend at a high level. He’s a shot blocker, a rim protector, and he’s deceptively strong. He had moments where he dominated post play with his activity. He uses rebound put backs, follow up dunks, and power moves for scoring opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id="1041372" first="Logan" last="Schayes"] PF 6’8 of Bella Vista Prep, New Mexico D1 2022

There’s no player in the gym that goes as hard as Schayes. He seems a bit undersized for the power forward position, but he countered the big boys with toughness, and a workhorse mentality inside. He has a good inside out game, with good moves inside to get his scoring opportunities, he’ll make shots on the perimeter. He’ll bang the boards, and run the court regularly.

[player_tooltip player_id="933538" first="Jake" last="Lifgren"] 6’2 PG of Centennial HS, Arizona Factory 2022.

We had to see Lifgren play a few games before we realized what kind of player is. With significant playing time he proved to be a dangerous scorer when he got things going. He has the confidence of a shooter. He showed all his shot making abilities, dribble pull ups from mid-range, deep 3ptrs, and transition knock downs. He can get inside as well

[player_tooltip player_id="1030455" first="Cameron" last="Stokes"] 6’5 W/F of Pinnacle HS, 2022, PAL Elite 2021 US

A slender athletic wing who has a good upside with continued skill work. His handles and perimeter play could use some polishing, but he was a solid performer at this event. He’s an runner who gets up and down the court at a good pace, he’ll fill the lane, attack the rim, if there’s an slight opening he’ll throw it down with his extra hops, and he knocked down some 3’s for balance. He’s long, he’ll defend and rebound.

[player_tooltip player_id="959690" first="Tre" last="Bell"] 5’10 PG of Heritage Academy HS, Arizona Select 2022-2

Bell plays in attack mode like most under 6’0 guards, the old chip on shoulder deal. He can be real tough to guard when he makes up his mind to go get a bucket. His speed, and strength allow him to challenge the big man in the post area. He pushes fast in transition, but can slow things down and run an offense when called up, he has a nice transition jumper, a good shot from 3. A solid on ball defender who can stay with other speedy handlers.
