1A DII Sawtooth All-Conf. Standouts

<p>Deep in the heart of central Idaho, a number of small farming and mountain communities come together to make up the 1A DII Sawtooth Conference. Though more well-known for their football programs admittedly, a lot of these schools also have great basketball programs thanks in large part to their multi-sport athletes. Each year, it is truly a toss up to see who will bring home the district championship as each year it seems that there is a shift in power among the great teams located in this region. Continue reading for a look at some of the top players from the 1A DII Sawtooth All-Conference team.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="919685" first="Brady" last="Power"], Dietrich:</strong> Power was named the MVP of the Sawtooth Conference this past season after leading Dietrich to a second place state finish. Power averaged over 22 points per game this season while shooting 50% from the floor. Power was a menace in the paint and did a great job of knocking down mid-range jumpers and also driving all the way to the rim to finish through contact. On defense, Brady did a great job of guarding the opposing team’s best player.</p> <p><strong>Hunter Smith, Carey:</strong> Easily one of the best shooters in the state, Smith now holds the state record for most three’s made in a single state game, and three’s made throughout the entire duration of the state tournament. Needless to mention, Hunter can really shoot the ball from outside and developed his form and quick release throughout his whole high school career. Hunter also contributed to his team in a variety of other ways and led a successful senior season for the program.</p> <p><strong>Carsn Perkes, Richfield:</strong> Perkes is one of the best young standouts in the state after being named to the all-conference team as a sophomore. Carsn can shoot the ball from anywhere on the court, but his true strength is found near the rim and at the free throw line. Perkes finishes exceptionally well at the rim and makes defenders pay for fouling him when he scores free points at the free throw line. Watch for Perkes to lead Richfield for the next two seasons.</p>
