Throughout the weekend at Bash in the Desert, I was looking for players that were just above the rest. These players are just amazing overall talent that is ready for any competition. These are my All-Stars from the weekend!

[player_tooltip player_id="701269" first="Raydon" last="Thorson"] | AZ Junior Ballers

This kid’s basketball IQ is out of this world. The feel Raydon has for the game is unfathomable! Let’s start with his court vision! This kid didn’t miss any open opportunities to set his teammates up to score. His head is always on a swivel and looking to get his teammates the rock. Raydon’s ballhandling is ELITE, making it effortless to create space and create offense off the dribble whether that be a jump shot or blowing by his defender getting to the rim. He is able to shoot it from outside and mid-range making the defense attempt to double team him every possession to get the ball out of his hands. His composure is remarkable as well, as he is always moving around the court without the ball. Raydon is a Divison 1 basketball player, no question.

[player_tooltip player_id="590836" first="Justus" last="Jackson"] | Arizona Select

What can I say, this kid is everything a coach is looking for in a PG. He is a VERY crafty ball-handler always keeping his dribble alive. His ability to create and make TOUGH shots off the dribble is out of this world! He is always composed and never shaken up by pressure or the moment. He gets in the lane for a tough "and 1", or creates an open opportunity for a teammate. What makes him stand out amongst other PG’s? Justus is a freakish athlete that plays above the rim also! Lastly, Justus wears his heart on his sleeve out there on the court. This kid doesn’t back down from anyone or anything out there! This kid is going to make a D1 college coach happier than a 5-year-old on Christmas morning!

[player_tooltip player_id="809671" first="Isaiah" last="Broady"] | Arizona Firestorm

At first look, Isaiah is someone you can’t help but want to watch play basketball. He is a 6’7 guard that can do everything. Isaiah is an excellent ballhandler breaking down the defense keeping them on their heels at all times. Isaiah is a very talented scorer whether it be shooting the rock or getting to the rim for a crafty layup or a poster dunk. Broady is just one of those athletes on defense that annoys you all game. He uses his speed and agility to stay in front of you and uses his length to either steal the ball or throw your shot into the stands or off the backboard. Lastly, Isaiah is an outstanding unselfish playmaker, having his teammates wanting to keep him on the court at all times.

[player_tooltip player_id="701265" first="Ahamed" last="Mohamed"] | Arizona Factory

Ahamed is that high motor PG that every coach is searching for. This kid never stops moving around the court just impacting every play he can. He is so darn quick I don’t think I saw one defender all weekend stay in front of him. He is relentless in getting to the rim to finish a tough layup while getting the extra free throw. Ahamed gets so much attention from the defense it just opens up scoring opportunities for others because the defense is focused on trying to stop him. He is a willing playmaker, never making the selfish play. To top it all off this kid’s energy on the defensive end is unbelievable. He is a hard-nosed defender creating havoc!

[player_tooltip player_id="933538" first="Jake" last="Lifgren"] | Arizona Factory

Jake is that INSTANT offense guard all coaches dream of... Jake’s ability to shoot from outside just opens up so many opportunities for himself and others. Then you add on that he is a great ball-handler and able to get to the rim with ease, is just ostentatious! He can do anything on the offensive end of the court! If he isn’t shooting from 22 feet effortlessly, whether being defended or wide open, he is in the lane creating scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. He is always making the extra pass to keep continuity in the offense. Jake is going to tear it up at the next level, for sure!

[player_tooltip player_id="1066478" first="Malik" last="Payton"] | Team Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

Malik is a 6’1 HOOPER! This kid can really fill it up! His first step is one of the quickest I’ve seen from a high schooler in a long time. He uses his outstanding ball-handling to create space to hit a step-back jumper or get into the lane to finish at the rim. He is just an eye-catching crafty PG that is always making plays. What made Malik hard to stop watching was his motor on the defensive end! This kid was just a beast guarding the ball, and being in great help defense. I didn’t see one guard finish in the lane when Malik was around the ball. His sneaky athletic, above-the-rim play makes him an incredible presence. Malik is not only ready for the next level right now, but once he gets there get ready to see an amazing basketball player fill it up!
