Here are the top five players from Area 9 that are returning for the 2021-22 season.
Colin DeLoach | 5-9 G | Holy Spirit Catholic
DeLoach finished second on the team in total scoring with an average of 13.1 points per game. The incoming senior scored a total of 275 points last season and capped his junior season with solid numbers.
DeLoach shot 41 percent from the floor, 41 percent from three point range and 69 percent at the free throw line. The senior is great at attacking the glass but can also hit a three from anywhere on the court.
Garrett Wilson Garrett Wilson 5'6" | NA lbs | PG Holy Spirit | 2022 State #NA Nation AL | 5-8 G | Holy Spirit Catholic
Wilson is another Holy Spirit Catholic star. He averaged 12.9 points per game last season and displayed great skills in his game. Wilson can fly to the rim on a fast break but can also hit the mid-range jumper or an open look from beyond the arc.
Entering his senior year, Wilson could once again be one of the top players in Area 9.
Javion McCrary | 6-1 PG, SG | Pickens County HS
McCrary may be one of the best guards in all of Class 1A. The junior had a standout season in 2020-21. He can fly past defenders to get to the rim but can also force a defender away from him for an open shot attempt.
On defense, McCrary is a standout defender that draws the player towards him and forces turnovers.
Noah Darty | 5-10 G | Berry HS
Darty was only a sophomore last season, but showcased great skills on the court. The guard is a sensational player that could earn offers this upcoming season.
He will have the opportunity for more playing time entering his junior year. Darty can attack the rim but also excels at stepping into an open shot and knocking it down with defenders nowhere around him.
William Collins | 6-2 F | Holy Spirit Catholic
Collins is a force on the glass. The rising junior finished last season with 94 total rebounds in 20 games played. He averaged 4.7 rebounds per game. 73 of his 94 rebounds came at the defensive end of the floor.
The forward is great at attacking the rim and grabbing rebounds but can also shoot from anywhere in the post. He is phenomenal at finding his way to the rim for a bucket on the offensive end against smaller defenders. Collins can also challenge taller defenders down low and work his way into scoring.
