Comments from Coach Michael Kobbervig:
Sam Kobbervig Sam Kobbervig 6'3" | SG Central Cass | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-1 G| Central Cass – Sam has really grown as a player over the past year. He has always been deadly from 3-point range, but he has added strong finishes at the basket as well as a really nice pull-up mid-range jumper. His length and leaping ability have really helped him on the defensive end as he is a capable defender and good rebounder as a guard. Sam is a great creator and passer, but we need him to be a bit more selfish on the offensive end.
Mason Bosse Mason Bosse 6'0" | SG Central Cass | 2023 State ND (2023) |5-10 G| Central Cass – Mason is a strong guard for our team. He is a really good mid-range shooter and is continuing to expand his range. Mason has really improved on the defensive end, especially with help-side defense. This is Mason’s first experience with Grassroots basketball, so we expect him to improve significantly as he gets more acquainted with the speed and physicality.
Cole Holzer Cole Holzer 6'7" | PF Central Cass | 2024 State ND (2024) |6-5 F| Central Cass – Cole is a great scorer for our team. He has the ability to knock down 3’s from anywhere on the floor, but he also is capable of breaking guys down on the dribble. His spin move to the hoop helps to set up his up and under move. As Cole continues to grow into his body and increases his strength, his impact on games will continue to multiply.
Carter Vrchota Carter Vrchota 6'1" | SG Central Cass | 2024 State ND (2024) |6-0 G| Central Cass – Carter is our Swiss Army knife. He really lets the game come to him and he has the ability to impact the outcome on multiple fronts. He is an extremely hard worker that never gives up on a play. Carter continues to improve his shot consistency and is an absolute sponge at drills and practice. He is extremely coachable and always looking to improve.
Tyler Cruchet Tyler Cruchet 6'1" | SF Central Cass | 2024 ND (2024) |6-0 G| Central Cass – Tyler’s motor has no off switch. He is a very strong kid with a surprisingly nice touch from outside. He has the strength of a post player but the great feet of a perimeter player. Tyler will continue to improve at finishing in the lane and around the basket as he develops moves to counter his height disadvantage against most of his competitors.
Eli Buhr Eli Buhr 6'2" | SG Central Cass | 2024 State ND (2024) |6-1 G| Central Cass – Eli is a very good outside shooter with significant range. He is a strong player that is really starting to understand his ability to rebound and play defense. Eli is the kind of player that can bail out a team experiencing a bad offensive possession by hitting a big 3.
Chase Bachmeier Chase Bachmeier 5'11" | PG Central Cass | 2024 ND (2024) |5-7 G| Central Cass – Chase is an old-fashioned gym rat. He is the first to arrive at drills almost every time. He is working on his shot consistency and craves feedback from coaches. What Chase lacks in height, he makes up with heart and effort.
Kamren Baarstad Kamren Baarstad 5'8" | SG Central Cass | 2024 ND (2024) |5-8 G| Central Cass – Kamren is a really scrappy defender that leads with a great attitude and effort. He never backs down from physicality on the floor and does not complain about lack of shots. Kamren is a good shooter that knocks down the open shot when it is presented.
Team Notes from Coach Michael Kobbervig:
“We are coming into the Grassroots season knowing that we have a mountain to climb. We are composed of only Central Cass boys and 75% of the team is 15U. We had a nice first weekend at the Comets Shootout going 2-2. We knocked off ECI Select Hanson in the first game with only 6 kids and they were all 15U. We then lost the next game by 13 with the same squad against MN Select Emge that went on to get 3rd place in our division. We beat MN Comets Gagner by 3 with our full squad on Sunday but got throttled by a rested MN Heat Dedina. I know that we are not affiliated with any of the larger Grassroots programs, but our first tourney performance is pretty impressive for a purely class B team in the world of Grassroots. We know that we must bring max effort on defense and rebounding, limit our turnovers, and play efficient offense to be successful. We look forward to leveraging our Grassroots experience when we go back to competing in Region 1 of North Dakota Class B basketball.”
