SD Attack 17U: AAU Preview

<p>A very talented team that college coaches and fans will want to get out and watch play. SD Attack opens the season up in Ames, IA this weekend. They are stocked full of players that will play at the next level.</p> <p><strong>Team Notes from Coach</strong> <strong><em>Lee Taylor</em></strong>:</p> <p>“When I see our 17u boys’ team - one word comes to me is Versatile. We have guys who can play multiple positions on both ends of the court. We don’t have that dominant 6’8 player, but we have guys who will be very tough to defend as they stretch defenses and at the same time, take their game inside. As this team builds chemistry over the course of the spring, it will be fun to see the outcome once we hit our stride as the weather warms up. This group will receive a ton of attention as we hope the recruiting period restriction will be lifted come June. Many D1 schools are anxiously awaiting to see a bunch of our guys play in-person since they were unable to last year.”</p> <p><strong><u>Roster:</u></strong></p> <p><strong><u>Comments from Coach <em>Lee Taylor</em>:</u></strong></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="812199" first="Caden" last="Hinker"] (2022) |6-7 F| Mitchell </strong>- Still tapping into his overall potential as he continues to work his game from the inside/out. Unbelievable feet and hands which allows him to play all over the court.... An excellent passer and an endless motor where he can play an entire game w/o letting up. His energy on both ends will help this team compete at a high level as he establishes an inside presence! Holds multiple D2 offers and receiving a lot of interest from higher-level schools waiting to see him play in person.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="968173" first="Drew" last="Norberg"] (2022) |6-1 G| Watertown</strong> - A knockdown shooter who has the ability to set his defender up and get to his pull-up when they close out too hard. Tough nose player on both ends and will not back down from any challenge. Will stretch and put pressure on defenses on how much they can help off him or need to stay on him so he cannot get it going.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="812209" first="Cael" last="Lundin"] (2022) |6-3 G| Tea</strong> - Athletic combo guard who can play any position on the perimeter. Has the ability to knock down shots but also attack and finish right at the rim. He can score the basketball in bunches and get it going anytime. Tremendous athlete where he plays hard and physically...always seems to find himself right in the middle of the action! Will do a lot of those little things for us to help this team be successful. Receiving a lot of strong college interest from NAIA up to D2 schools.</p> <p><strong>Luke Lorenzen (2022) |6-4 G/F| Okoboji</strong> <strong>(IA)</strong> - Big-time athlete and who can play inside and out.... He will be coming off an injury from his HS season as we expect him back in early May. Will add a new dimension to this group as he will be a tough match-up for many teams. Will definitely make some highlight plays at and above the rim once he gets back 100%. Excited to see him compete with this group and showcase his ability to score inside/out. Has multiple scholarships offers from NAIA to D2</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="682290" first="Tanner" last="Te Slaa"] (2022) |6-5 G/F| Boyden-Hull (IA)</strong> - Has the ability, skill set, and basketball IQ to play every position on the court. Tanner has always had the ability to shoot it but has developed his all-around game on the offensive end where he can score inside/out, off the dribble, pull-up, posting up, and of course, shoot it. That ability to play every position on offense carries over to the defensive side of the ball where he will always try and challenge himself to guard the opposing team’s best player. He is such a competitor and will do whatever it takes to help the team be successful. You see that in his HS team as they were state champs in 2020 and Runner-up in 2021.... the kid just knows how to win! He holds multiple D1 offers and many more schools lining up to watch him play this spring and summer</p> <p><strong>Jaxen Meyer (2022) |6-4 F| West Lyon (IA)</strong> - Will bring that toughness/physical presence inside for us. What he lacks in height inside, makes up for toughness and his willingness to compete for every inch of space inside. Has the ability to knock down shots but his biggest strength is being around the basket creating opportunities for himself between offensive rebounds and dump down passes from his teammates.</p> <p><strong>Lincoln Klenholz (2023) |6-2 G| Pierre</strong> - Playing up a year - started the past 2 years (freshmen and sophomore year) at Pierre which is a AA. Competes night in and night out against the state’s toughest teams which has allowed him to have an opportunity to play up. Another great athlete and is also the starting quarterback (won state this past year) and top pitcher in baseball. Tells you he loves to compete and can handle those big moments. An elite scorer who can shoot it and finish above the rim! As our season gets going, cannot wait to see him settle in and show off his ability to help this team be successful.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="968152" first="Keshaume" last="Thigh"] (2022) |6-3 G| Lower Brule</strong> - Another versatile inside/out player. This is his first year with us and has seen so much growth in his game from 3 weekends of practice. Has the ability to shoot it and put the floor on the floor and get to the rim. Cannot wait to see his continued growth as we get playing this Spring and see it carry over to the summer.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="962615" first="Vance" last="Katzfey"] (2022) |6-3 G| Spirit Lake (IA) </strong>- Athletic wing/forward who will play multiple positions for this group. When he can attack downhill, he is tough to stay in front as he can finish right at and/or above the rim. Ability to knock down shots and keep defenses honest.... A player who b/c of his athletic ability can do so many things to help this team compete.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="968165" first="Dylan" last="Marshall"] (2022) |6-2 G| White River </strong>- Comes from an HS program that just knows how to win.... He will bring that winning edge to this group and big-time toughness! His strength is attacking the basket to create opportunities and has great court awareness to find open teammates. Can play all perimeter positions and will be a tough match-up for most defenders.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="812195" first="Coy" last="Determan"] (2022) |6-2 G| Gregory </strong>- Unfortunately, tore his ACL this past winter and will not be able to play.
