Continue ReadingThe city of Miami is vastly diversified with various sections and communities. You might have noticed the chaos in Miami Beach as an example of what goes on outside of the main city. While its own entity, outsiders might mix the two together.
I would like to focus on areas that is aptly named by my title above.
Here are some of my picks…
Jaylan Coats Jaylan Coats 6'4" | SF Miami Beach | 2022 State FL – Miami Beach
2022 Jaylan Coats Jaylan Coats 6'4" | SF Miami Beach | 2022 State FL is likely to return as one of the top players for Miami Beach. The 6-foot-4 forward averaged 12 points and 9.1 rebounds per game on 42 percent shooting from the field. Moreover, Coats grabbed ten or more rebounds in seven games. Against Booker T. Washington, he had 13 points and grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds. Coats’ effort that night was one of seven double-doubles on the year. He also had a season-high 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds against McArthur.
Lucas Gibb – Miami Beach
Another player to watch for the Tide is Lucas Gibb. Gibb is a 6-foot-5 prospect with a ton of length coming out of the backcourt. The rising senior averaged 12.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game last season. Moreover, Gibb shot 41-of-109 (38 percent) from behind the arc. Against Northwestern, he had 16 points and knocked down four 3-pointers. His size and aggressive shooting from the perimeter gives him a nice advantage over defenders. That length is also a plus when he battles near the glass for rebounds.
Tyrieke Sterile Tyrieke Sterile 6'0" | CG North Miami Beach | 2022 State FL – North Miami Beach
2022 Tyrieke Sterile Tyrieke Sterile 6'0" | CG North Miami Beach | 2022 State FL is a prospect I saw play and came away liking his potential. The 6-foot-1 guard/forward averaged 14.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game for the Chargers. On defense, Sterile collected 45 steals on the season. That tells me he is a keen competitor on both ends of the floor. He recorded a season-high 31 points and eight steals in a win over Varela. In a matchup against Miami Springs, Sterile scored 27 points and knocked down five 3-pointers. He should be a leader on the team with the graduation of 2021 David Alize David Alize 5'10" | CG North Miami Beach | 2021 State FL next season.
Kaseam Purkiss – North Miami Beach
Purkiss did a bunch of things well in the lineup for the Chargers. The 6-foot guard/wing averaged 7.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.3 assists per game for North Miami Beach. Agaisnt IMater Charter (13-6), Purkiss had eight points, five rebounds, five assists and six steals. All of those numbers added up to a 68-62 victory. He is essentially a jack of all trades playmaker.
Gabriel Gaspard Gabriel Gaspard 6'0" | SG Dr. Krop | 2022 State FL – Dr. Krop
Krop is a school located right over the Broward County line and serves part of the North Miami Beach area. Either way, 2022 Gabriel Gaspard Gabriel Gaspard 6'0" | SG Dr. Krop | 2022 State FL is a player to watch in any jurisdiction. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 15.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game on 48 percent shooting from the field last season. With three seniors graduating, Gaspard will be there top guy and leader on the team. He scored 20 or more points in five games and shot 50 percent or better in all of those contests. He is also a very good rebounding guard and notched three or more steals in six games. Look for an increase in Kirkland Sands as well. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 7.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. His role will need to intensify with the loss of last season’s production.
