Continue ReadingPreston, Idaho may forever be remembered for never being willing to share their tots or as being the home of Rex Kwon Do Dojo, but this land of mystery also happens to be the home of one of the most dominant basketball teams in the state of Idaho. Down in the southeast corner of Idaho, the 4A South East Idaho Conference is home to the Preston Indians who have made six straight state championship appearances. Dominance would be an understatement, and yet, the other teams in this conference still battle and give Preston a run for their money when it comes time for a bid to state. Continue reading for a look at the top players from the 4A South East Idaho All-Conference team.
Gabe Hammons, Preston: As the conference player of the year, Hammons was a tough cover on the court all year and showed his skills and abilities during every contest. Hammons has a great scoring ability as he can score from outside, inside, and he loves to get easy points from the free throw line. Defensively, Gabe could always find a way to provide a stop in crunch time or grab a big rebound in order to keep his team ahead in close contests. Overall, Hammons is a complete player on both ends of the floor and truly deserved player of the year considerations.
Julian Bowie, Pocatello: One of the only freshmen on the list, Bowie proved that he will be a key part of the Pocatello offense for years to come. Bowie is a sharp shooter who routinely knocked down at least three 3-pointers in most of the games he played this past season. Bowie has the mentality of a shooter and knows how and when to get his shot off against any and all types of defenders. Julian will continue to progress as he becomes a great all-around player at Pocatello.
Emmett Holt Emmett Holt 6'2" | SG Century | 2021 State ID , Century: Emmett was a great player for Century this season as he provided a lot of senior leadership. Holt could knock down the open shot from outside and also had a lot of skill inside whenever he finished at the rim. Defensively, Holt played with passion and rebounded like crazy. Additionally, Holt was ever afraid to sacrifice his body to dive for a loose ball or take a charge when it mattered most.
