The Tune Up: Standout 2024 Wings

<p>The Prep Hoops Circuit rolled on this past weekend at The Tune Up in Dallas. Twenty-three teams showed up to compete in the 15U division, and I was able to see every team at least once. I will be highlighting standout prospects from this past weekend throughout the week.</p> <p>There were a ton of talented 2024 prospects in the building at Haltom High School. With that in mind, here are seven of the best wings from the 15U division:</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1217006" first="Devin" last="Boone"] | 2024 | Shooting Guard/Small Forward | NTX Elite 2024 | Red Oak HS</strong> - Boone was fantastic when it came to turning defense into offense by getting into passing lanes for steals and deflections. That translated to numbers advantages in transition, and he used his slashing ability to consistently score at the rim in those situations. Beyond that, the Red Oak prospect showed that he can make spot up threes and rebound at both ends of the floor. </p> <p><strong>Benjamin Price | 2024 | 6’3’’ Small Forward/Power Forward | Victory Academy 2024 Gold | Prosper HS</strong> - Price is long, athletic, and smooth. He possesses a soft touch near the basket and displayed that he could finish above the rim in transition. The 6-foot-3-inch forward is also capable of knocking down jumpers, evidenced by some turnarounds in the high post and pull ups from the baseline. He can get himself to the cup by attacking off the dribble too. </p> <p><strong>Sammie Laeky | 2024 | 6’5’’ Small Forward/Power Forward | Victory Academy 2024 Gold | Allen HS</strong> - Laeky can play down low or out on the wing. He thrived at protecting the rim during The Tune Up, using his height and length to challenge shots while turning back several. That earned him a spot on the 15U All-Defensive Team. On offense, he played well on the perimeter. The Allen forward showed that he can hit threes from the catch. He was a sneaky good passer as well. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1203725" first="Camden" last="Brock"] | 2024 | 6’3’’ Small Forward | Nike ProSkills Austin 2024 | Lorena HS</strong> - Brock is a capable shooter, but he was at his best this weekend when he got downhill. The 2024 small forward was great at gliding into the paint and either scoring over the top of defenders or finding a teammate to dish it to for an easy bucket. Furthermore, he is a springy leaper who can block shots and clean the glass. </p> <p><strong>Adrien Napierkowski | 2024 | 6’3’’ Small Forward | Drive Nation San Antonio 2024 | Brennan HS</strong> - Like many young prospects with good size, Napierkowski was tasked with playing down low a lot during this tournament. However, you could really see his skill whenever he handled the ball in the open court and attacked the basket off the bounce. When operating as a big, he used his firm build to carve out space for himself in the post and finished through traffic and contact. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1211655" first="Jonah" last="Johnson"] | 2024 | 6’3’’ Shooting Guard/Small Forward | Nike ProSkills San Antonio | Steele HS</strong> - Johnson is a skilled wing with a long and wiry frame. He is an excellent shooter who can drain jump shots off the bounce. His soft touch in the paint was also impressive. Additionally, The Steele wing scored at the basket in transition and was a solid contributor on the boards throughout the tournament. This is a guy with a lot of upside.</p> <p><strong>Bryan Jackson | 2024 | 6’1’’ Small Forward | Victory Academy 2024 White | McKinney HS</strong> - When I saw Jackson at The Tune Up, I thought he looked familiar. Then I realized that I had seen his name on a Texas A&amp;M football recruiting website. He is a gifted running back who is already receiving interest from Power 5 programs. The 2024 prospect is a talented hooper too.  You can see his football background in his style of play, as he was constantly muscling his way to the basket and finishing though heavy contact with relative ease. Defenders would bounce off him whenever he put his head down and got inside.  </p>
