The Prep Hoops Circuit rolled on this past weekend at The Tune Up in Dallas. Twenty-three teams showed up to compete in the 15U division, and I was able to see every team at least once. I will be highlighting standout prospects from this past weekend throughout the week.

There were a ton of talented 2024 guard prospects in the building at Haltom High School. So, here are nine of the best shooting guards and combo guards from the 15U division:

Jon Tran | 2024 | 6'0'' Shooting Guard | NTX Elite 2024 | Plano East HS - Tran was first team All-Tournament largely because of his playmaking ability. He displayed a great feel for the game and was fantastic at finding cutting teammates as well as shooters on the perimeter with accurate passes. The Plano East guard also hit shots from both mid-range and behind the arc. Furthermore, he contributed a lot on the boards and defended well, putting together a complete all-around performance.

Elijah Weaver | 2024 | Shooting Guard | NTX Elite 2024 - Weaver was phenomenal on defense throughout the weekend. He locked up perimeter players and held his own while challenging shots in the interior against opponents with a size advantage. The 2024 prospect was locked in from start to finish and played with a bit of an edge on D. At the other end, Weaver scored within the flow of the offense, hitting numerous catch-and-shoot threes, and did a good job of finishing at the basket in transition. He is a two-way stud.

Josiah McDonald | 2024 | 5'11'' Shooting Guard | Drive Nation San Antonio 2024 | Stevens HS - McDonald was productive as a scorer from all three levels, and that earned him first team All-Tournament honors. The Stevens two-guard was brilliant when driving to the basket off the dribble but knocked down jumpers from mid-to-long range too. This kid can go. He can really fill up the scoring column once he gets into a rhythm. Additionally, McDonald was active and engaged on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id="1126004" first="Brooks" last="Bahr"] | 2024 | 6'3'' Shooting Guard | Texas Impact 2024 UAA | Keller HS - Bahr was another one of the first team All-Tournament guard sections. He was a sniper from behind the three-point line, draining triples frequently this weekend. His turnaround and fadeaway game near the basket was excellent as well. Beyond that, the 6-foot-3-inch guard played with some emotion and used his size and strong build to rebound at both ends. This is a guy with the potential to be a real problem for opposing teams moving forward.

Kai Helton | 2024 | 6'1'' Combo Guard | Texas Impact 2024 UAA | Rockwall HS - Helton came off the bench in both of the matchups I saw him play in, but he operated well in that role, providing a spark with his three-point shooting and perimeter defense whenever he entered the game. The 2024 combo guard made multiple threes in both contests and also filled the lane and finished the break due to his non-stop hustle. He is a terrific three-and-D player.

Trent Patterson | 2024 | 5'7'' Combo Guard | Victory Academy 2024 White | Richardson HS - Patterson is a crafty shot-maker. He put the ball in the basket from inside and outside the three-point line. The Richardson guard looked really good in stop-and-pop situations from mid-range. He utilized shot fakes to provide himself with some extra space and was patient when hunting for his shot.

Trae Brown | 2024 | Combo Guard | Texas Royals Basketball 2024 - Brown looked comfortable at both guard spots. The 2024 prospect is a true combo guard who can produce on or away from the ball on offense. He has a solid handle and a smooth style of play. Brown drilled spot up threes, had success attacking the basket off the dribble, and took care of the basketball when operating as more of a lead guard. He lets the game come to him but is aggressive when he sees an opening.

Tristen Hicks | 2024 | 6'1'' Combo Guard | Team United Texas 2024 Yellow | Frisco Independence HS - Hicks was outstanding as a decision maker. He was generous as a facilitator during The Tune Up. He showed that he can score too, knocking down jump shots from a variety of different areas. The Frisco Independence guard also has a nice-looking runner in his arsenal. He controlled the tempo and made opponents play at his pace on offense.

[player_tooltip player_id="1151448" first="Rowdy" last="Robinson"] | 2024 | 6'2'' Shooting Guard | Team United Texas 2024 Yellow | Pilot Point HS - Robinson was excellent in catch-and-shoot scenarios. He was able to hit triples off the dribble as well, utilizing screens to free himself up from behind the arc. The 6-foot-two-inch shooting guard displayed solid off-ball movement and the ability to make threes from a variety of spots. In addition, he hit a turnaround jumper in the high post, showing that he is more than just a three-point specialist.
